About this talk

Fiscal 2022 financial performance was somewhat mixed for the Canadian banking industry as the uncertain macroeconomic environment produced higher provisions for credit losses, reduced capital markets revenue and greater operating expenses. Entering 2023, the Canadian banking outlook is affected by a challenging operating environment featuring muted economic growth and the increasing likelihood of a recession. Macroeconomic conditions are amplifying some key vulnerabilities, as materially higher debt servicing costs and elevated inflation levels are eating into heavily indebted borrowers’ disposable income. Join DBRS Morningstar on February 8th at 10:00a.m. EST for a Frontline Perspectives webinar on the 2023 Canadian Banking Outlook. Shokhrukh Temurov, Vice President, North American Financial Institutions will moderate the conversation as Carl De Souza, Senior Vice President, North American Financial Institutions provides an overview of expected key performance factors for the Big Six this year, including net interest margins, asset quality and credit risk, and higher capital regulatory requirements. The discussion will be followed by a Q&A session. DBRS Morningstar welcomes all who wish to participate.
