About this talk

The ability to offer increased security and transparency around funding and monetisation means that blockchain has a game-changing potential in many areas of Media & Entertainment (M&E). With customers set to remain fickle in terms of ongoing subscriptions, blockchain-enabled micropayments will make it far easier to accept payments for individual items or streams of content. Blockchain can also enable more rigorous tracking of consumer habits and provide a path for content creators to go direct to market. But while the possibilities are undeniable, there is reason for caution. Blockchain technology is still in its relative infancy and the sector as a whole is in need of more standardisation. In this webinar we will look at the present and possible future of blockchain, addressing topics including: - The applications that will drive adoption of blockchain in M&E - The challenges of implementing blockchain in new and existing media infrastructures - The potential of blockchain and decentralised ledger technology to improve the distribution of content and royalties - Steps to be taken by broadcasters to ensure they use blockchain in a way that is secure and sustainable - Impact of possible moves around standardisation and regulation, including proposals from the European Commission
