About this talk

The world is facing major challenges in the form of climate change, rising inequality and conflict. Climate change is one of the highest priorities as it exacerbates existing issues around energy, resource, food security and increases the likelihood of extreme weather events. There is a need to catalyze wider system-level change and investors are increasingly looking for an effective way to encourage the economy to become more sustainable. Impact investing is one of the many approaches the private sector can use to support the implementation of the Sustainable Development Goals. It aims to positively influence the society beyond ESG related compliance and focuses on business models, products and services that companies produce. The finance sector has a strategic interest and can play a central role in facilitating the transition to a low carbon sustainable model. As the impact investing eco system grows, investing models, metrics and frameworks are evolving. They become holistic, more mainstream and integrate value chain analysis. Existing tools and frameworks are progressively integrating impact in the context of financial risk and performance. With appropriate transparency and harmonized analysis, institutional investors can assess their investments, set targets and track improvements. In this context, there is a growing need to better understand company activities, business models and ecosystem. This is necessary not only to be prepared for further policy developments and respond to stakeholder expectations, but also to reap the potentially important benefits of the emerging impact-based economy. This webinar will address the following: - How investors can better assess climate impact and encourage companies to transition to a sustainable low carbon model - What the existing impact measurement solutions are and how they are evolving
