    Suresh Chitturi, 3GPP SA6 Chair, will look in to the early work for Mission Critical applications and take the viewer through some of the exciting new use cases being served by CAPIF and SEAL features from 3GPP.

    About Suresh Chitturi:

    Mr. Suresh Chitturi is currently the Director, Standards at Samsung Research. He has over ~20 years’ experience in the mobile technology industry, and has been engaged in the standards development since 2002.

    He currently serves as the Chairman of 3GPP SA6 Working Group, which is responsible for the development of application-layer standards in 3GPP. Prior to his current role, he served as the SA6 Vice-Chairman (2015-2018).
    Suresh has contributed actively towards the development of technology and standards strategy in various global Standards Organizations (SDOs) such as W3C, JCP, OMA, GSMA, and 3GPP including leadership and editor roles for a number of technical specifications.

    He holds a Master of Science degree, in Computer Sciences from University of North Texas.

From 2006, he has been with Qualcomm Corporate R&D contributing to system design, prototyping and implementation, and standardization of 4G LTE/LTE-Advanced and more recently 5G (New Radio or NR).

    About Erik:

    Erik Guttman, a full time employee of Samsung Electronics, has been actively involved in standardization in networking and telecommunications for over 20 years. He currently serves as the 3GPP Service and System Aspects Technical Specification Group Chairman. Preceding this, he held the position of 3GPP System Architecture working group for two terms. He has also chaired and actively contributed to numerous IETF working groups including SVRLOC (Service Location Protocol) and ZEROCONF (Zero Configuration Networking). Erik's background includes leading research and software projects that introduced emerging network application and system functions to operating environments. Erik developed frameworks and tools for distributed installation and deployment. Erik served Chief Technical Officers as system architect and requirements researcher. Erik obtained a BA in Philosophy and Computer Science from the University of California, Berkeley and a MS in Computer Science from Stanford University.

The mobile broadband standard
The 3rd Generation Partnership Project (3GPP) unites [Seven] telecommunications standard development organizations (ARIB, ATIS, CCSA, ETSI, TSDSI, TTA, TTC), known as “Organizational Partners” and provides their members with a stable environment to produce the Reports and Specifications that define 3GPP technologies.

The project covers cellular telecommunications network technologies, including radio access, the core transport network, and service capabilities - including work on codecs, security, quality of service - and thus provides complete system specifications. The specifications also provide hooks for non-radio access to the core network, and for interworking with Wi-Fi networks.

3GPP specifications and studies are contribution-driven, by member companies, in Working Groups and at the Technical Specification Group level.

The three Technical Specification Groups (TSG) in 3GPP are;

-Radio Access Networks (RAN),
-Services & Systems Aspects (SA),
-Core Network & Terminals (CT)
