Data at Work - Behavior, Part 1

Data at Work - Behavior, part 1: How and why improving how we treat our data will improve how our data treats us.

In part 1 of our podcast focusing on data behavior, our expert panel explore some of today's most common and critical data 'behaviors' - both good and bad. At how businesses can address these and their data challenges by building and nurturing active data protocols and communities. And why saying that Data = IT, is like saying that Transport = Car Dealership. Once you have listened to this podcast, please listen to the extended discussion in part 2.

  • Use A.I. to Quickly Handle Sensitive Data Management Aug 11 2020 4:00 pm UTC 40 mins
John Stegeman, Master Solutions Consultant, Hitachi Vantara
The growing waves of data you’re pulling in include sensitive, personal or confidential data. This can become compliance nightmare, especially with rules around PII, GDPR and CCPA. Especially as it takes simply too much time to manually decide what should be protected.

In this session, we will show how AI-driven data catalogs can identify sensitive data and share that identification with your data security platforms to automate its discovery, identification and security. You will see a demonstration of how this dramatically reduces your time to onboard data and make it safely available to your business communities.

  • The Rationale for Continuous Delivery Jul 30 2020 4:00 pm UTC 30 mins
Dave Farley, expert in Continuous Delivery
Many of us working in system design and development spend our careers without seeing what good really looks like. That’s because the production of information systems is a complex, collaborative process that stretches our human ability to cope with its demands. IT history is littered with inefficient processes with poor quality output that comes too late to capitalize on the expected business value.

How did we get into this state? How do we get past it? What does good really look like?

In this session, we’ll show how Continuous Delivery (CD) changes the economics of developing software and information systems for some of the biggest companies in the world. Find out how and why.
  • Unlock Data Value Faster with Automated Onboarding from Edge to Cloud Jul 28 2020 4:00 pm UTC 29 mins
Anand Rao,Principal Product Marketing Manager; Mark Burnette, VP Digital Insight Solutions, Hitachi Vantara
High quality data is the foundation of the information-driven enterprise. But challenges persist to unlock the potential of that data: It is complicated, siloed and distributed. Consequently, companies do not take advantage of most of their data today – in fact, only around 2.5% of all data is actually analyzed.

Join Mark Burnette and Anand Rao to learn about how open connectivity and automation lets anyone involved with data avoid tool proliferation, escape low level coding and shrink time to value of their big data projects.
  • Get Faster Return on Data with DataOps and Lumada Jul 23 2020 9:00 pm UTC 60 mins

Bobby S. Morshed, IT Lead - Global Data Analytics, Johnson Controls / Nerea Palacio and Madhup Mishra, Hitachi Vantara
Enterprises are falling behind on data privacy compliance and regulatory requirements (GDPR, CCPA etc.) to protect sensitive data. They use obsolete tools and manual processes that are inaccurate and error prone, delaying data consumption by months.

Join us to learn how to bring Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Automation to effectively identify and protect ALL standard and firm-specific sensitive data.

  • Coronavirus: How Technology Can Help Prevent the Next Waves Recorded: May 12 2020 42 mins
Mark Jules and Justin Bean, Smart Spaces & Lumada Video Insights, Hitachi Vantara
The COVID-19 coronavirus and the human suffering it has wrought are rapidly changing the way we live and work. In the near term, staying at home and practicing social distancing are vital to ‘flattening the curve’. However, when we do venture out of our homes in the coming months, it is likely that a vaccine for the coronavirus will still be months or even a year or more away. As societies loosen social distancing practices, there is a real possibility we could experience further outbreaks unless the institutions and businesses we rely on do all they can to prevent the further spread of the disease.

In this webinar we will cover how technology - alongside such continued good practices as hand-washing - could play a vital role in helping to isolate cases and support a targeted approach to quarantine.

Learn how a layered approach using emerging technologies like 3D lidar, video intelligence, IoT and AI are helping to:

    - Contain the spread of the virus using elevated body temperature sensing alerts

    - Prevent the spread of disease through handwashing verification and social distancing compliance through 3D lidar without personally identifiable information (PII)

    - Report on and comply with policies, using analytics and incident management solutions to provide transparency to employees, customers, and regulators
