About this talk

Discussing the changing vision of smart cities and addressing the reasons for the changes to our projections for electric vehicles and what this will mean for the industry. The term ‘smart city’ has had different meanings over the years and is a much broader concept than just innovative building projects. The development of information technology has enabled the growth of smart infrastructure, including the use of renewable building materials, electric transport and waste management. Smart cities are far more complex, however, and address the needs of city populations and the challenges they face. Nine out of ten cities in the emerging markets are due to become the world’s largest cities, and because of this rapid urbanisation smart city solutions are vital to improve the quality of life for the inhabitants of these cities and to provide economic growth.
