On 3rd November 2021 at 7.30am EST/11.30am UTC/7.30pm Beijing, we will host the first Carbon and Carbon Trends joint webinar. Professors Mauricio Terrones (Penn State University) and Vincent Meunier (Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute) will provide an overview of both journals, sharing key insights on developments in carbon materials research as relates to the journals’ publishing programmes, and insights into publishing your work in the journals. The presentation will be followed by a Q&A. Carbon is an international multidisciplinary forum for communicating scientific advances in the field of carbon materials, including low-dimensional carbon-based nanostructures. The journal reports new, relevant and significant findings related to the formation, structure, properties, behaviors, and technological applications of carbons, which are a broad class of ordered or disordered solid phases composed primarily of elemental carbon. Carbon Trends is an international, peer-reviewed, open-access journal, and a companion title to the well-established journal, Carbon. This journal offers an open access platform to communicate progress in the field of carbon materials science. The scope of Carbon Trends comprises new developments associated to all forms of carbon, including traditionally bulk carbons to low-dimensional carbon-based structures. This 1 hour webinar will provide essential information about the publishing process, and specifically in the journal Food Structure. We will explore the scope of the journal, the peer review process, writing tips and different publishing models. The format of the webinar will be a 30 minute presentation followed by a 30 minute Q&A with the editors and publisher of Food Structure. Since the 1990 World Conference on Education for All in Jomtien, well over half a trillion dollars has been disbursed as aid to education, much of it targeted on low-income countries. Some of the recipients have transformed their education finance systems and have developed into bona fide fiscal states able to support their recurrent and capital spending on education from domestic revenue. But many low income countries have not made this transition successfully and remain dependent on successive waves of external assistance to reduce their financing gaps. The status quo is no longer a viable way forward. Grant aid is unlikely to grow as the Covid-related recession supresses donor spending. Concessional lending to countries with sub-prime credit ratings and high debt service ratios looks imprudent. The size of the shortfall in funding to achieve SDG4 is now so large that no feasible amount of external assistance could fill it, nor could it be relied on to pay recurrent costs including teachers’ salaries into the future. If the amounts needed were deployed from global agencies it would generate unprecedented levels of dependence in those countries receiving most assistance.

How to get published EUSIPCO 2020

At many journals, the process for submitting a review article is much different from the process for a research article: rather than uploading your research manuscript and clicking Submit, it might only be possible to submit a review article by invitation or prior consultation with an editor. In that case, a journal will usually ask authors to first send a proposal that introduces the review article. Common elements of proposals, which are sometimes also called pre-submission inquiries, include a concise description of the intended article, an explanation of why it’s a good fit with the journal, a list of key research articles on the topic, and perhaps a summary of the intended audience or the authors’ own expertise in the topic. This webinar gives some insights from a reviews editor on what makes a compelling proposal, including some common mistakes to avoid, how a proposal is different from a cover letter, and the importance of customizing your proposal for your intended journal.

How to prepare a proposal for a review article

Journal metrics are part of an array of metrics assessing impact and quality of scientific research. They can help editors/publishers to promote their journal, researchers to identify where to submit a paper, and support research leaders in evidence based leadership for strategic research planning. Based on the scientific abstract and citation database Scopus, CiteScore is a journal metric introduced as a transparent alternative to the Journal Impact Factor. CiteScore™ metrics are the new standard that help to measure journal citation impact in a current, comprehensive and clear way. Most recent CiteScore 2019 was calculated via an enhanced methodology, addressing feedback from experts and users. CiteScore is freely available and calculated based on all active publications in Scopus, currently over 25,300 serial titles: journals, book series and conference proceedings, including many Chinese titles.

CiteScore: what has changed and why?

Most manuscripts are rejected at least once before being published. Being rejected at the “desk” level, entails a manuscript not being sent out for review. Oftentimes, this is due to fairly straight-forward reasons such as submissions being entirely out of scope. Other times, it’s less evident to authors why their work is being rejected.
