While this is more efficient and scalable than on-premises storage, anytime an asset is fetched from the origin server, an egress fee or “egress tax” is incurred. Strategies for handling traffic spikes and bot attacks

Cloudflare, along with Google and Amazon AWS, disclosed the existence of a novel zero-day vulnerability dubbed the “HTTP/2 Rapid Reset” attack. This attack exploits a weakness in the HTTP/2 protocol to generate enormous, hyper-volumetric Distributed Denial of Service (DDoS) attacks. Cloudflare has mitigated a barrage of these attacks in recent months, including an attack three times larger than any previous attack we’ve observed, which exceeded 201 million requests per second (rps). Since the end of August 2023, Cloudflare has mitigated more than 1,100 other attacks with over 10 million rps — and 184 attacks that were greater than our previous DDoS record of 71 million rps.

"At Cloudflare, we set out to build a better understanding of the threat landscape facing Chief Information Security Officers (CISOs) and their teams across Asia Pacific. Interviewing more than 4,000 cybersecurity professionals from 14 markets across the region, the report includes new findings on cybersecurity preparedness, revealing how organizations are coping with rising volumes of cybersecurity incidents, their levels of preparedness, and the outcomes experienced. The results are both illuminating and alarming, with the survey revealing that across the region attacks are increasing, and yet not all organizations are sufficiently prepared.

Some key findings include:  

- Over 78% of the respondents experienced at least one cybersecurity incident in the past 12 months. 
- Of those that experienced cybersecurity incidents, 80% reported experiencing four or more incidents, with 50% experiencing more than 10.
- Only 38% of organizations think they are highly prepared to address a cybersecurity incident.

As we look to the future, we hope this report will provide useful reading and inspiration for CISOs and cybersecurity teams in the region looking to achieve a better understanding of the cybersecurity risks at play, and how to achieve better outcomes for their organizations.
