Airheads Tech Talks: SD-WAN-Branch HA and Redundancy between VPNC
Presented by
Sajin Nair, Aruba TAC
About this talk
VPNCs can either be deployed as standalone devices or as layer 2 redundant pairs. When layer 2 redundancy is enabled, one VPNC operates in an active role while the second VPNC operates in a standby role. The standby VPNC only assumes an active role in the event of an active VPNC failure. It’s important to note that the standby VPNC does not terminate any VPN tunnels or advertise branch routes via OSPF until it transitions to an active state.
Similarly, we will have scenarios where there are multiple Branch Gateways (controllers) at the Branch. We need to support Dual Branch Gateways in an Active-Active fashion where you could have single or Dual WAN links on each of the BG/controllers. BG/Controller should work as a cluster and should be capable of exchanging the path/link, session, Health of those path/links, etc and take the decision to route traffic on the links.
Agenda:
1. Introduction to Branch HA and Redundancy between VPNC
2. Use Cases
3. Topology
4. Configuration
5. Verification/Troubleshooting
