  • Airheads Tech Talks: SD-WAN-Routing(Underlay and Overlay) and PBR Enhancement Recorded: Oct 29 2019 59 mins
    Karthikeyan Mookkandi, Aruba TAC
Aruba’s SD-Branch solution leverages WAN services that interconnect hub and spoke sites to establish VPN tunnels which encapsulate and forward corporate traffic. Each WAN service is referred to as the underlying network while the VPN tunnels form the overlay network.

Reachability and forwarding through the underlay and overlay networks is achieved using IP routing on gateways. The VPNCs and BGWs each implement their own routing tables to determine the next-hop for each IP packet on its way to the desired destination. The routing tables on the BGWs consist of default gateways and static routes while the routing tables on VPNCs consist of default gateways, static, IKEv2, and OSPF routes

    1. Introduction to underlay and overlay routing.
    2. Configuration of Overlay routing.
    3. What is PBR.
    4. Traffic using with PBR/DPS
    5. Configuration and troubleshooting.

  • Making Digital Transformation real with AI and automation Recorded: Oct 1 2019 42 mins
Neil Ward-Dutton, VP, AI & DX European Research at IDC
Some people say that Digital Transformation is no longer interesting – it’s an old idea. However, IDC’s research shows that in fact, the opposite is true: it’s just getting interesting. This session will explore the opportunities and challenges that come when organisations move beyond the implementation of one-off “islands of digital innovation” to drive real transformation – reinventing existing operating models with the help of AI and automation, and connecting their “digital outside” to a true “digital inside”.
  • Airheads Tech Talks: SD-WAN-Branch HA and Redundancy between VPNC Recorded: Sep 24 2019 51 mins
    Sajin Nair, Aruba TAC
VPNCs can either be deployed as standalone devices or as layer 2 redundant pairs. When layer 2 redundancy is enabled, one VPNC operates in an active role while the second VPNC operates in a standby role. The standby VPNC only assumes an active role in the event of an active VPNC failure. It’s important to note that the standby VPNC does not terminate any VPN tunnels or advertise branch routes via OSPF until it transitions to an active state.

Similarly, we will have scenarios where there are multiple Branch Gateways (controllers) at the Branch. We need to support Dual Branch Gateways in an Active-Active fashion where you could have single or Dual WAN links on each of the BG/controllers. BG/Controller should work as a cluster and should be capable of exchanging the path/link, session, Health of those path/links, etc and take the decision to route traffic on the links.

    2. Use Cases

  • How to Deliver a True Cloud Based Network Experience Recorded: Sep 10 2019 40 mins
Guido Kragten, Aruba Sales Enablement Cloud Platforms, EMEA
Businesses of all sizes are investing in cloud, mobile, and IoT technology that will push their IT teams and networks to deliver great experiences to employees, customers, guests, and students and gain a competitive advantage. Limited resources, time, and training continue to be a major barrier to meeting the challenges of today’s modern digital experiences. Historically the conservative risk-averse nature of network administrators has ensured networks remain up and running. But a continued resistance to new tools (e.g. centralized, consolidated management), methods (e.g. automation), and innovations (e.g. AIOps) will inhibit the necessary progress needed for network administrators to meet the demands of modern business.

IT organizations are choosing to manage their infrastructure from the cloud. The cloud not only provides global network device visibility and access to data, but it also simplifies deployment and frees IT from maintaining the infrastructure required to host and maintain applications. For IT organizations seeking to deliver modern digital experiences at the convergence of people, applications, and things, Aruba Central is the only unified cloud-based platform for delivering network management, AI-powered analytics, user-centric service assurance, and security for wired, Wi-Fi, and SD-WAN networks to simplify IT operations and deliver modern digital experiences.

  • Airheads Tech Talks: SD-WAN-Health Check and Dynamic Path Selection Recorded: Aug 27 2019 70 mins
    Rajesh P, Aruba TAC
Health checks must be enabled to determine the path availability of each WAN uplink. When enabled, the gateway will send UDP or ICMP probes to an IP or FQDN of a host to determine if the path is available to accommodate traffic. The primary use case for health checks is to verify that each ISP’s network is operational and prevent branch traffic from being forwarded into a black hole.

Aruba gateways can implement DPS policies to determine the WAN uplinks that are selected for specific users, applications, and destinations. The selected forwarding path could be a single WAN uplink or traffic could be load balanced between a group of WAN uplinks. The destination IP address of the traffic will determine if the traffic is steered towards a VPN tunnel or forwarded directly to the Internet. The DPS policy effectively selects an uplink and the gateway’s routing table or policy-based routing (PBR) rules will determine the next hop.

  • Airheads Tech Talks: SD-WAN-Features Introduction and Onboarding/ZTP Recorded: Jul 30 2019 88 mins
    Dinesh Kumar Perumal, Aruba TAC
Software-defined wide area networking (SD-WAN) is a technology shift towards solutions that are more agile, open, and cloud integrated. SD-WAN solutions should deliver a secure, service provider independent network with enterprise-level performance over different WAN technologies.

However, while SD-WAN solves a real IT problem, it only addresses one of the problems faced when dealing with distributed locations. Organizations often roll out and operate distributed, heterogeneous networks with small, centralized teams. These distributed networks offer many services besides just WAN connectivity. Branch networks need wired and wireless local area network (LAN), security and policy enforcement, and of course, WAN interconnect.

The software-defined branch extends the concepts around SD-WAN to all elements in the branch, delivering a full-stack solution that addresses wired and wireless LAN, security and policy enforcement, and, of course, WAN connectivity.
