Join our in-house expert, RBC GAM Chief Economist Eric Lascelles, with host Haley Epp, as they discuss analysis and thoughts on the pandemic’s development globally, the efforts to thwart its progress, and the macroeconomic implications for institutional investors.

Speaker Bios:

Haley Epp: Haley is a PH&N Institutional portfolio manager on the Fixed Income Specialty Team. In this role, she works closely with clients and consultants to manage a wide range of fixed income investment mandates, including Universe, Long Bonds, and Corporate Bonds. Prior to joining the institutional team in 2012, Haley spent two years with RBC GAM-Canada in the advisor channel sales group where she helped promote PH&N and RBC mutual funds among financial advisors and brokers across B.C.

Eric Lascelles: Eric is Chief Economist for RBC GAM and is responsible for maintaining the firm’s global economic forecast, and generating macroeconomic research. He is also a member of the RBC GAM Investment Strategy Committee, the group responsible for the firm’s global asset mix recommendations. Eric is a frequent media commentator and makes regular presentations both within and outside of RBC. Prior to joining RBC GAM in 2011, Eric spent a decade at anther Canadian financial institution, rising from economist to the chief economics and rates strategist on the firm's trading floor. He previously worked with the Canada’s national statistical agency.

COVID-19: What Inning Are We In?

In this second webinar, equities experts Paul Martin and Andrew Sweeney offer insights and analysis informed by their experience developing different equity-based strategies over many years to address specific institutional needs. Their presentation will touch on ESG considerations, low volatility, fossil fuel free, and emerging markets strategies, as well as opportunities in these areas for Canadian institutional investors.

Speaker Bios: 

Paul Martin: Paul is an institutional portfolio manager with in-depth knowledge of equity markets. In addition to working directly with institutional clients, he is responsible for developing institutional investment solutions that harness the expertise of all investment teams within RBC GAM. Prior to joining PH&N Institutional in 2010, he spent 13 years in institutional sales with a large bank-owned investment dealer and a predecessor firm, where he was responsible for relationships with Western Canadian institutional equity investors.

Karen Kerr: Karen is an institutional portfolio manager on the Fixed Income Specialty Team at PH&N Institutional where she is responsible for specialty portfolios including Universe, Long Bond, Corporate Credit and LDI mandates. She joined PH&N Institutional in 2005 as a Canadian equities associate analyst. Previously, Karen had been a research analyst of Canadian, U.S. and international equities at a top performing asset management firm based in eastern Canada.

Andrew Sweeney: Andrew is an institutional portfolio manager who specializes in equity and multi-asset portfolios. He is also a capability specialist on the institutional team with respect to the integration of ESG considerations. Andrew joined PH&N Institutional in 2007, having previously managed Canadian equity portfolios for a large, well-respected Canadian institutional asset manager. Since entering the investment industry in 1995, he has had analytical research responsibilities for most sectors within the Canadian equity market.
