So you’ve cleaned your messy dataset, completed a comprehensive analysis using some advanced statistical methods, and are ready to show the world the insights you’ve found. Now comes the final step, putting everything together into a slide deck presentation of your findings. Only it’s never that easy, is it? Whilst it may seem like the most straightforward part of any analysis, structuring an analysis into a compelling case for action is actually deceivingly difficult, and is the step where many deep-dive analyses fall over.

Across 6 years as an analyst, Ivan has contributed towards investor pitches, used data to inform high-level company strategies, and created his fair share of slide decks and business cases. In this talk, he'll go through useful ideas to help you structure your slide deck for maximum impact.

    Email communication is one of the most common activities on PCs and mobile devices and this holds true now more than ever. Nike invests a lot of effort into Email communication. Although the cost of sending one email may be small, the cost builds up as the number of emails aggregates. Also, the user engagement governs the reputation of Nike IP addresses and the KPIs. Therefore, it is important to identify the campaigns relevant to consumers with a high propensity of engagement.
    The goal of the Personalized Communications team is to serve the Nike consumers with the most relevant campaign emails at the right time with the right frequency. In this talk, Ankit will address important questions/topics relevant to the Personalization Communications team. He will also answer questions that explain how Nike is currently handling personalized communications, what’s working well and what’s not, and how to build the data foundation for Personalized Communications. Finally, Ankit will do a deep-dive into some of the data science models that the team is currently working on.

    While randomised control trials like A/B tests are the gold standard for causal inference, there are many situations where they’re not appropriate or even possible to run. Geo-experiments (where we apply the treatment to specific geographic regions) can act as a quasi-experimental alternative when conventional A/B tests aren’t feasible. In this presentation we’ll introduce geo-experiments, the common statistical models used to construct synthetic controls for geo-experiments, as well as some of the methods we use at ASOS to accelerate the pace of geo-experiments we run.

    Carta is a Silicon Valley unicorn valued at $6.9B on a mission to help companies and investors manage equity ownership. In other words, Carta is mapping one of the world’s most valuable proprietary datasets: the ownership graph showing who gets rich when private equity becomes liquid. Equity is the largest lever for wealth creation in Silicon Valley and beyond; we believe it should be distributed equitably.

    In 2018, Carta partnered with one of Silicon Valley’s top investment collectives, #ANGELS, after they hypothesized the gender equity gap was worse than the salary gap. Carta has since committed to publishing a yearly study on the state of diversity on cap tables in an initiative known as Table Stakes. Join Erin Boehmer, the lead Data Scientist for the Table Stakes study, to learn about #TheGapTable and how she is taking a highly visible analysis from 0 to 1.

    Erin Boehmer is a Senior Machine Learning Engineer at Carta where she leads the development of platform data and ML products.
