About this talk

Midstream companies, whether structured as Master Limited Partnerships (MLPs) or C-Corps, play a vital role in connecting energy production in the US and Canada with domestic and global demand by transporting, processing, and storing oil, natural gas, and natural gas liquids. Companies perform these activities for fees, driving stable cash flows that support attractive dividends. MLPs enjoy a beneficial tax structure: paying no income tax at the federal level means MLPs can return more cash flow to investors as dividends. Given the fee-based nature of midstream, cash flows are less sensitive to commodity price volatility compared to other sectors of energy, such as oil and gas producers. Midstream has demonstrated defensive performance during periods of energy price declines, outperforming other energy sectors. With a historic average yield of 7% for MMLP’s underlying index, midstream companies have compared favourably to other income strategies. Low correlations to other income-orientated investments like bonds or Real Estate Investment Trusts make midstream a compelling diversifier for income portfolios. MLPs are not included in most broad market indices providing another element of diversification. Topics will include: - An overview of the current energy market - What are master limited partnerships - How do midstream MLPs & C-Corps and corporations fit into the full energy value chain - Why MLPs & C-Corps offer attractive income opportunities - Introducing Alerian Midstream Energy Dividend UCITS ETF - How financial advisers can incoporate MLPs into a diversified investment portfolio while increasing yield - Q&A For professional investors only. When you trade ETFs, your capital is at risk.
