An Introduction to Midstream Energy Infrastructure | MMLP

Midstream companies, whether structured as Master Limited Partnerships (MLPs) or C-Corps, play a vital role in connecting energy production in the US and Canada with domestic and global demand by transporting, processing, and storing oil, natural gas, and natural gas liquids. Companies perform these activities for fees, driving stable cash flows that support attractive dividends. MLPs enjoy a beneficial tax structure: paying no income tax at the federal level means MLPs can return more cash flow to investors as dividends. Given the fee-based nature of midstream, cash flows are less sensitive to commodity price volatility compared to other sectors of energy, such as oil and gas producers. Midstream has demonstrated defensive performance during periods of energy price declines, outperforming other energy sectors.

With a historic average yield of 7% for MMLP’s underlying index, midstream companies have compared favourably to other income strategies. Low correlations to other income-orientated investments like bonds or Real Estate Investment Trusts make midstream a compelling diversifier for income portfolios. MLPs are not included in most broad market indices providing another element of diversification.

Topics will include:
- An overview of the current energy market
- What are master limited partnerships
- How do midstream MLPs & C-Corps and corporations fit into the full energy value chain
- Why MLPs & C-Corps offer attractive income opportunities
- Introducing Alerian Midstream Energy Dividend UCITS ETF
- How financial advisers can incoporate MLPs into a diversified investment portfolio while increasing yield
- Q&A

Part 1 | ETF strategies to de-carbonise the world

The financial industry is under pressure to fight climate change after the code red warning about the unprecedented impact on the planet. The change towards a low-carbon future is a risk for any investor’s portfolio. Therefore, ETFs can be used to help mitigate the risk. Investing in clean energy ETFs could be a beneficial way to help fight climate change.

In Part 1 of this series, we will be joined by climate investment experts as we explore the different options investors have in relation to reducing their emissions. We will also be looking at what they hope will emerge from COP26 and what the impact will be on the financial industry and investors.

  • Thematic Thursdays-Exploring thematic trends: airlines, sports betting & iGaming Recorded: Sep 9 2021 53 mins
Frank Holmes, CEO and Chief Investment Officer of US Global Investors, Aaron Fischer, CEO and Founder of Fischer Gaming
Join us as we take a closer look at the growing number of thematic ETFs available to European investors and dive deeper into these underlying themes. In this webinar we will be discussing new and upcoming ETF themes and will be joined by thematic ETF experts to discuss two emerging sectors:

The iGaming and sports betting industry:
The global gaming industry has generally been fast growing over the last decade, pre-COVID, due to exceptional growth in Asia, notably in Macau and Singapore. New casino projects globally have also fuelled growth, given strong untapped demand in most markets. Looking forward, Fischer Gaming believe that growth is likely to come from Asia and online wagering on a global basis. On the other hand, the bricks and mortar market in the US is relatively mature. The convention and group travel market is also expected to take time to recover which impacts locations such as Las Vegas.

Aaron Fishcer, CEO of Fischer Gaming and iGaming and sports betting expert, will be discussing:
    • Increased social acceptance of gambling and betting
    • Regulatory changes
    • Sports betting and iGaming companies to watch

    The airline industry:
In the U.S., the pandemic meant commercial air travel demand hit a record low on April 13, 2020, with the number of passengers totaling 87,534, an incredible 96% decline from the same calendar day a year earlier. The impact to European network traffic was just as severe: In the week ended April 19, 2020, there were nearly 90% fewer flights than the same period in 2019, according to Eurocontrol. Global airline stocks tanked 20% in February 2020, a further 40% in March.

As the airline industry begins to recover, we'll be joined by Frank Holmes, CEO of U.S. Global Investors, to discuss:
    • The recovery on the industry post-pandemic
    • What the Delta Variant could mean for airlines
    • What the future of travel could look like

  • Add "The Biggest Growth Opportunity in the History of Capitalism" To Your Basket Recorded: May 20 2021 55 mins
Kevin Carter, CIO and founder of EMQQ, and Jane Edmondson, principal and co-founder of EQM Indexes
The growth of ecommerce in emerging markets is often referred to as 'the biggest growth opportunity in the history of capitalism' as consumption in emerging markets is predicted to account for nearly half of the global total by 2025 [1].

A digital consumer revolution is happening in EM as new consumers, increasing internet access and improved smartphone affordability are all coming together in a great confluence. We are seeing consumers in EM leapfrogging traditional development stages, with many of the first computers consumers own being smartphones.

However, we cannot forget the growth of ecommerce in developed countries and how the pandemic has accelerated this growth. Mobile commerce spending is predicted to grow by 250% over the next 5 years [2], showing this trend is not likely to slow down when lockdown restrictions are lifted.

We will be joined by ecommerce experts Kevin Carter, CIO and founder of EMQQ, and Jane Edmondson, principal and co-founder of EQM Indexes to discuss:
    - The history of ecommerce
    - Adoption of ecommerce in emerging markets

  • Midstream Energy | Recovery, Dividends and ESG Considerations Recorded: Mar 18 2021 59 mins
Stacey Morris, Director of Research Alerian
Midstream energy infrastructure continues to offer investors income while benefitting from an ongoing macro recovery and company-specific improvements. Many midstream names are poised to generate meaningful free cash flow in 2021 even after dividends with several having announced buyback authorizations in recent months. Midstream companies, whether structured as corporations or Master Limited Partnerships (MLPs), play a vital role in connecting energy production in the US and Canada with domestic and global demand by transporting, processing, and storing oil, natural gas, and natural gas liquids.

With vaccines being rolled out globally and producers remaining disciplined with cuts, oil prices have recovered significantly even as demand improvement remains in early stages. Complementing an improving macro outlook, expected free cash flow generation, buybacks, and discounted valuations make for a compelling total return opportunity. Midstream yields remain elevated at nearly 9%* as of the end of January from predominately investment-grade companies.

We’ll be joined by Stacey Morris, Director of Research at Alerian to discuss:

    • Macro landscape
    • Midstream outlook and dividend update
    • ESG Considerations
    • Valuations of midstream companies
    • Q&A
