This year, rising rates continued to weigh on stock market valuations. However, around 17th June markets reached an inflection point. The S&P 500 and other major indices started to rally, seemingly on the belief that Federal Reserve would reverse to easier monetary policy in next few months. Despite this much needed summer relief, both the S&P 500 and Nasdaq Composite finished the second third of year in negative territory.
Simultaneously, and indeed consequently, the globe became enveloped in an energy crisis. The sudden cessation of gas supply from Russia contributed to record energy price spikes and widespread concerns about how to acquire alternative energy sources, especially as winter approaches.
