About this talk

Effectively addressing the nation’s growing cyber needs will require a concerted effort to include people from across the full spectrum of our nation’s citizens. Action-focused efforts to increase the number of women and people of color in cyber fields are critically important but still nascent and tend to over-index on technical skills rather than addressing the fundamentally multidisciplinary nature of the field. This session will share details of MITRE’s innovative Cyber Futures program, which is taking action to address the lack of diversity in the cyber. Cyber Futures is an experiential summer student internship focused on recruiting and training the next generation of cyber defender. Webinar attendees will learn how MITRE launched the program, lessons learned since its 2021 instantiation, and get ideas for how to shape similar programs with their own organizations.
