The “Two Sessions” are political gatherings of the National People’s Congress (NPC) – the country’s highest organ of state power, the National Committee of the Chinese People’s Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC), and the country’s top political advisory body. It’s held every year in the Spring. The Government Work Report kicks off the “Two Sessions,” highlighting what has been done in the past and what will be done in the future.
This year, “stability” is still the key focus. China has set a 5.5% GDP growth target, with the expectation of the economy to “go steady and far” and is shifting its priority from quantity to quality.
