Hi [[ session.user.profile.firstName ]]

Windows Server 2008 Has Reached End-of-Support (EOS) — What Should You Do?

By most estimates, approximately 40% of all Windows Server installations are Windows Server R2 and older, and as of January 14, 2020, Windows Server 2008 and 2008 R2 have reached End-of-Support (EOS). What should your organization do? No updates mean exposure to an insecure cyberspace, risks of non-compliance, and high operational costs — so staying still is not really an option.

Thankfully, AWS’ partner-driven End-of-Support Migration Program (EMP) helps customers migrate their legacy Windows server applications to the latest supported versions of Windows Server on AWS, without any code changes.

In this webinar with AWS and Mission, we’ll cover:

* What the ramifications are for staying on Microsoft Windows Server 2008
* The three steps involved in the EMP for Windows Server: application assessment, compatibility packaging, and migration
* The benefits of the EMP as they relate to future-proofing, reducing risks, and cutting costs
* Success stories for EMP partners

Microservices are single-purpose, self-contained services with well-defined protocols and published SLAs designed to be built and operated by small, autonomous teams. With benefits that include increased agility, flexible scaling, easy deployment, reusable code and higher resilience, it’s no wonder why AWS is shifting from monolithic architectures running on traditional on-prem compute to microservices running on containers and serverless.

In this webinar, featuring AWS Premier Partner Mission and AWS ISV Accelerate Partner New Relic, we’ll walk you through:

    * Building your next microservices application with modern AWS services, including AWS Lambda, Amazon EKS, Amazon SQS, and Amazon DynamoDB.
    * How to correlate infrastructure and application performance data for intelligent decision making
    * Advanced troubleshooting best practices (using log files, accessing containers, etc)
    * How to leverage some of the most modern services on AWS using AWS best practices
    * Success stories about how we’ve helped customers leverage microservices to optimize the speed and performance of their cloud environments, focusing on Mission customer Your Call Football

Using containers to package your applications is a standard best practice, as is using an orchestration service like Amazon ECS or Amazon EKS to manage and orchestrate running containers at scale. However, in spite of all the information and resources available when it comes to managing and scaling containers, the decision about which container monitoring tool to use can often be a source of confusion and difficult to evaluate.

In this webinar, Mission’s Senior DevOps Consultant Jake Malmad and Cloud Consultant Luke Reimer will compare different container monitoring tools and the right context for when to utilize them. The presentation will specifically delve into:

    * Best practices to consider whether you are using Amazon ECS or Amazon EKS
    * The key differences between AWS monitoring tools like Amazon CloudWatch and Container Insights, tools from partners like New Relic, open-source tools like Prometheus and Grafana, and the right use cases for each
    * Customer use cases leveraging different monitoring tools, and subsequent takeaways

However, AWS has been a major driver for the shift from monolithic architectures running on traditional on-prem compute to microservices running on containers and serverless.

    In this webinar, you'll learn:

What exactly are microservices and what are their key benefits?

What challenges and trade-offs do you face when adopting microservice architectures?

A deep dive into Your Call Football (YCF), an innovative mobile application combining fantasy football and fan-sourced play calling. Mission re-architected YCF's monolithic platform into a microservices architecture leveraging Kubernetes, Jenkins, and Terraform.
  • Clarifying Deployment and Management of Containers with Kubernetes Recorded: Nov 5 2019 40 mins
    Kiril Dubrovsky
Whether you don't know what it is, or have already built a container strategy, Kubernetes can be daunting to learn and understand, not to mention scale, secure and manage. Especially given the overwhelming list of options and tools available for performing just simple management and monitoring tasks. Leveraging container technologies is a great way to achieve a wide set of efficiencies related to scaling, performance and cost and getting a more cloud-native architecture quickly in AWS. And now with the general availability of the Elastic Container Service with Kubernetes in AWS, that task has become even easier.

In this webinar, we'll try to demystify the Kubernetes terms and moving parts in order to help you get an EKS based solution working in your account. We'll cover :

    - Why Kubernetes?
    - Overview of Kubernetes Services and Components
    - The kubectl command line
    - Controlling Access to the kubectl command line
    - Options for Scaling Containers in Kubernetes
    - The Container based Continuous Integration Strategies
    - Security Strategies for Kubernetes and Containers
    - Leveraging AWS Fargate and when that makes sense.
    - How Mission helped scale YourCall Football scale to 100,000 concurrent users with EKS

    Sanjay Garje, Jonathan LaCour
For organizations that manage a large number of applications and distributed teams, cloud setup and governance can be time-consuming and complex. In some organizations, creating a new AWS account itself can take weeks if not months, stifling the very innovation the organization is trying to take advantage of. Thankfully, AWS Control Tower (AWS CT) provides a simple way to set up new, secure, and compliant multi-account AWS environments that can be set up all using native out-of-box AWS CT service in 30-90 minutes. In this webinar, Sanjay Garje, the leader of global & strategic technical business development for AWS Service Catalog and AWS Control Tower, will discuss the benefits of Amazon Control Tower and common questions surrounding this new service.
