Streamlining Management of L3 firewall rules in Cisco Meraki Networks

Using the Meraki web based portal it is easy to administer all aspects of your network in a centralized fashion, but sometimes we are asked to perform some very specific changes on all networks in an organization during the transition to cloud based security that can end up taking a long time. In this webinar you will learn how a simple python script that leverages the Meraki Dashboard API can greatly improve the time it takes to “manually” add new MX L3 rules into all the applicable devices in all Networks in an organization.

  • Automate Application Configuration and Policy Deployment with Ansible Oct 3 2019 3:00 pm UTC 45 mins
John McDonough, Developer Advocate, Cisco DevNet
Applications need the network to communicate, operate, integrate, etc. All of the things that an Application might do on the network, in the network, and with other networks requires configuration and policy. Automating the management of configurations and policy for applications in all the required places through APIs can be a daunting task. The APIs can vary, for example, methodologies to implement the APIs, authentication processes, transport protocol utilization, and more. This session shows the use of Ansible and its uniform approach to managing application configuration and policy deployment. Attendees will learn where to retrieve the Ansible Playbooks and supporting files, how the Ansible environment is structured, and the Ansible modules utilized. This session will include a demo of the Automate Application Configuration and Policy Deployment with Ansible use case found of DevNet Automation Exchange.

  • Networking with ACI and ISE Recorded: Sep 5 2019 26 mins
Jason Mah, Virtual Systems Engineer, Cisco Systems
Learn how a web tool in Django framework utilizes Cisco Application Centric Infrastructure (ACI) and Cisco Identity Services Engine (ISE) APIs. This tool automates the configurations required to support user authentication using 802.1x and RADIUS. Cisco ACI is typically deployed in the data center environment but in this use case Cisco ACI was utilized for a campus network, so device authentication was critical to the customer. Authentication was achieved with Cisco ISE solution.

  • Meraki Automation – Multi-Org Management Recorded: Aug 22 2019 48 mins
Matthew DeNapoli, Developer Advocate, Cisco DevNet
Meraki’s Dashboard is a great and powerful tool for network management and monitoring but it’s limited by the very thing that makes it powerful; it has to be everything to everyone and that granularity can make it overwhelming to use on a day-to-day basis. All enterprises, large and small, have their own way of doing things and this pertains to network management and monitoring as well. In this session, you’ll be introduced to APIs, code, and tools that will allow an organization to build out dynamic interactions with the Meraki platform that aligns with the way that their teams do the business of networking.
