Christopher Van Der Made, Developer Advocate, Cisco Systems
On this webinar, you will learn more about the "SecureX Serverless Relay". You will also learn about the brand new DevNet Learning Track, which teaches you how to create custom integrations with SecureX. The SecureX serverless relay is used to integrate 3rd party systems into SecureX. The serverless relay allows SecureX Threat Response to observe, deliberate, refer, and respond to observables from 3rd party solutions. The serverless relay can be deployed anywhere, on the application, bare metal server, VM, or in the cloud, such as AWS Lambda, Azure Functions, or Google Cloud Functions. For this DevNet Learning Lab, you will deploy the Serverless Relay Module in AWS.

  • Get Insights from your IT & OT Assets Mar 23 2021 4:00 pm UTC 60 mins
    Flo Pachinger, Developer Advocate, Cisco
It is very important for operators in any industry to have good visibility of their assets – either in outdoor or indoor spaces. For example, keeping an eye on their HVAC systems, networking closets, critical inventory, outdoor parking spaces, or even industrial assets on the shop floor. The new Meraki MT sensors, Meraki MV cameras, and Cisco Industrial Asset vision IoT sensor solution allow you to track those assets, get data for your decision making and create actionable notifications. See in this webinar how we integrated these solutions in our Cisco office in Frankfurt and how easy you can process the asset data and integrate it.

  • Protecting your Cloud-Native Applications with Cisco Secure Workload Recorded: Dec 14 2020 57 mins
Ed McNicholas and Eddie Mendonca, Cisco Systems
Today’s applications are dynamic, using virtualization, containerization, microservices, and workload mobility technologies, with communication patterns between application components constantly changing. The Cisco Secure Workload platform is designed to fully address these challenges, using comprehensive traffic telemetry data collected from the workloads. The platform performs advanced analytics using an algorithmic approach and provides comprehensive workload protection for a multi-cloud data center. This algorithmic approach includes unsupervised machine-learning techniques and behavioral analysis. Based on this, Cisco Secure Workload can automatically generate a micro-segmentation policy based on application behavior and including any existing security policy mandated by business requirements. On top of that, it can consistently enforce this segmentation policy across a multi-cloud infrastructure to minimize lateral movement.

In the webinar, you will learn all about this and also learn how to put it into practice using the open APIs. In the end, you will be referenced to a full training that learns you how to do it yourself!
  • The Benefits of a GitOps Model for a Cloud-Native Environment Recorded: Dec 8 2020 49 mins
Christopher Liljenstolpe and Cody McCain, Cisco Systems
GitOps and CI/CD provide significant benefits to a Kubernetes environment from an immutable audit trail to pre-deployment testing.

However, Kubernetes, initially, did not make use of a GitOps model but instead provides its own deployment path using writes to the Kubernetes API. There are a lot of Kubernetes users who are comfortable with the native Kubernetes API and the related CLI tool ‘kubectl’. Due to the way the Kubernetes API is designed, it is possible to use a GitOps CI/CD chain, or a kubctl API call to make a modification to your Kubernetes cluster, but you can’t do both. The current tooling makes a kubectl call incompatible with GitOps.

In this talk, we’ll cover the pros and cons of each model, and why they don’t play so well together. We also will discuss some options we are considering on how to harmonize both paths, and, if the code is ready in time, maybe even have a demo to show.

  • Meraki Dashboard API v1 Release Recorded: Nov 5 2020 59 mins
Matt DeNapoli, Developer Advocate, Cisco DevNet
Meraki’s Dashboard API has proven for years to be a useful tool in network creation, management, and monitoring. It has provided thousands of organizations ROI in time and effort by allowing them to build network and applications for how they manage IT. The first version of the Meraki Dashboard API (v0 as it’s called) was bolted on to the platform as an additional feature rather than the driver of features and development. Working in conjunction with DevNet, Meraki adopted and “API First” mentality in the development of v1 and is now ready to unveil the resulting improvements. In this session, we will explore differences from v0 and v1 that will enhance the developer experience, promote consistency and adoption of REST standards, and identify avenues for increased efficiency in API implementation and usage.
