Deep Dive into the new SD-WAN Sandbox

In this BrightTalk webinar, you will hear how we planned and built the new Cisco SD-WAN Sandbox, what goes into building a sandbox, and an awesome demo from Sai showing you how to use Postman collection examples to get started with Cisco vManage APIs. Then we will look at how to use vManage Aggregation APIs to generate reports on statistics related to loss/latency/jitter of SD-WAN overlay tunnels and we will also look at how to use APIs to trigger policy updates to change the preferred transport for certain application traffic. Finally, we look at how to use Viptela Python SDK to simplify operations related to feature/device templates. We will also be taking your questions live too.

  • Getting Started with Industrial NetDevOps Jul 14 2020 3:00 pm UTC 60 mins
Florian Pachinger, Developer Advocate, Cisco DevNet
Cisco’s industrial switch series IE3x00, the industrial router IR1101, and the industrial access point IW6300 and are running IOS XE (same as on the Catalyst 9000 Series) which enables Industrial NetDevOps. Industrial NetDevOps is the combination of the tools and best practices from DevOps with network engineering and operations in industrial networks. This means that instead of using SNMP and CLI, you configure and manage industrial network devices via network device APIs and other software automation tools.

The aim of the session is to get you started with Industrial NetDevOps: How you can use the network device APIs (RESTCONF & NETCONF), the automation tool Ansible and its differences to DNA Center and Industrial Network Director (IND). Also, it will cover use-cases where it would make sense to use these APIs. There will be also a live demo for showcasing!
  • Intro to IoT Analytics - Dashboards Jul 7 2020 3:00 pm UTC 60 mins
Jock Reed, Developer Advocate, Cisco DevNet

  • Smart Parking with LoRaWAN Recorded: Jun 30 2020 48 mins
Florian Pachinger, Developer Advocate, Cisco DevNet
What is LoRaWAN? How can you use it for your IoT deployment? This session will cover shortly the basics of this IoT technology and show how we implemented it with parking sensors in the Cisco office in Frankfurt, Germany. The testbed is straight forward: data is sent from the LoRa parking sensors from Bosch to the LoRa network server and from there to the backend (influx-db, python script with flusk, Grafana) to visualize it on a web-based dashboard.
  • Introduction to IoT Technologies Recorded: Jun 29 2020 47 mins
Jock Reed, Developer Advocate, Cisco DevNet
Through this webinar you will learn the technologies you need to know to make working with IoT straight forward and easy. You will learn about the most commonly used protocols for communication in IoT, you will learn about which devices are good to get started with, and you will learn how to build IoT applications in the ever-evolving world of IoT. This session will have light coding and will have live examples of using IoT.

  • Writing Production-Ready Code; Nornir Edition Recorded: May 20 2020 64 mins
Nick Russo, Technical Leader, Cisco Systems
The difference between a good code project and a great code project is often the quality of the peripheral components. Topics like documentation, regression testing, continuous integration/continuous deployment (CI/CD), and runtime error checking tend to be forgotten once the program functions correctly. I've discussed my "narc" tool in the past which uses Nornir and Netmiko to test the efficacy of Cisco ASA firewall rulesets. That session "Is Your ASA Really Doing What You Expect" focused on the functional Python code to accomplish the program's purpose. This session will focus on everything we skipped last time, including design tips on how to test your own code projects.
