About this talk

Finding new ways to serve students from hardscrabble backgrounds. Fostering strong ties to local school systems. Working hand-in-glove with local industries to make sure there’s a strong worker pipeline. Community colleges and technical colleges have long been a source for innovation in higher education. But the outbreak has hit these institutions particularly hard. How do they continue to fulfill their vital mission with fewer dollars and possibly fewer students? How are they transforming themselves to meet the needs of a society upended by this public health crisis? What lessons for serving low-income students and local communities can four-year institutions learn from? This virtual forum, hosted by Goldie Blumenstyk, will examine these questions by talking with community college and technical college leaders about the innovations they are using to solve today’s issues and plan for the uncertain future. Panelists include: - Marcia Ballinger, President, Lorain County Community College - Thuy Thi Nguyen, President, Foothill College - Michael A. Baston, President, Rockland Community College
