Over the last few years, new technologies such as artificial intelligence, machine learning, virtualization, computer vision and edge computing have been driving the expansion of robotics. 5G is expected to advance the evolution of robotics, not only in industrial segments, but in healthcare, logistics, renewable energy, oil/gas, retail, and transportation. Additionally to offer new safety and security benefits.
5G promises to accelerate cellular data transfer speeds from 100 Mbps to 10 Gbps and beyond. This would bring far more bandwidth and more reliable connections - and that will allow AI/ML, virtualization, sensors, and edge compute to enable robotic innovations to bring a major evolution to robotics and expand usage in the factory, surgery room, trains, and warehouse.
