About this talk

AIGCC, along with the Asia Sustainable Finance Initiative (ASFI), PRI and WWF, are providing investors in Asia the opportunity to hear about the developments and harmonisation efforts of the EU Taxonomy as well as insight into similar developments in China. The EU Technical Expert Group on Sustainable Finance, set up by the Commission in July 2018, has launched a call for feedback on their Report on Taxonomy published on 18 June 2019. It is another important step related to the EU's Action Plan on financing sustainable growth, published in March 2018. The expert group’s report follows on the Commission's May 2018 legislative proposal on an EU taxonomy. With the present call for feedback, the expert group asks for technical input on its Report on Taxonomy. Stakeholders are invited to comment on the proposed activities identified by the expert group that contribute substantially to climate change mitigation and adaptation, and the proposed technical screening criteria. They are also called to answer questions on the usability and future development of the taxonomy. While the Taxonomy would apply to funds regulated in the EU, the EU has asked the Technical Expert Group to consider the international dimension wherever possible, and pledged to support the development of international taxonomies. As such, this webinar is designed to articulate the Asian perspective to the EU Taxonomy and is aimed to support the harmonisation efforts between Asian and EU markets.
