About this talk

Investors play an important role in driving sustainable palm oil production practices, however insufficient demand for sustainable palm oil prevents these efforts from reaching their full potential. Buyers in Asia - who will fuel growth in demand over the coming decades - lag compared to their international peers on sustainable sourcing commitments. With 61% of palm oil globally being consumed by ten Asian nations, this creates a leakage market for unsustainable palm oil. This webinar aims to highlight the opportunities for investors to catalyse greater engagement with Asian downstream buyers of palm oil, with a focus on Fast Moving Consumer Goods (FMCG) companies. WWF Singapore will provide an overview of their research findings on palm oil sourcing policies and practices in Asia-based FMCG companies. The webinar also serves to launch the next stage of the PRI's Investor Working Group on Sustainable Palm Oil, which will focus on engaging with buyers of palm oil in the Asian FMCG sector.
