Managers can be both the champions of wellbeing and the blocker to supporting people. When managers are skeptical of new or different practices and expectations, one of two things will happen. They either run for the hills or they flourish. Having wellbeing conversations as part of regular check-ins with their team are a must. With 1 in 4 people suffering a mental health problem each year, it cannot be ignored by managers who simply don’t wish to include this as part of regular conversation.
