About this talk

The only part of content’s journey that is wireless is from your smartphone to the radio installed atop of tower or side of a building. The rest of the content’s journey to a distant data center, where access content is hosted, is over a packet-optical transport network. This means that the end-to-end performance and quality of experience that the end-users, human or machine, is critically dependent on the packet-optical network that interconnect 5G radios to each other and to content-hosting data centers, whether close to the network edge or across an ocean. This webinar will discuss the various challenges and opportunities that are available to mobile network operators to better understand how to not only continue scaling and rolling out 4G revenue-generating services, but new 5G services as well. Key Takeaways: - 5G is more than just a wireless upgrade - 5G will need fiber, and lots of it - Importance of wireline networks to successful 5G mobile services network services - How existing wireline networks must evolve and adapt to enable 5G mobile services - How to transition from early 5G networks, which leverage 4G wireline infrastructure, to Full 5G end-to-end networks - Overview of technologies to enable packet-based fronthaul, end-to-end orchestration, Network Slicing, and virtualization
