Harnessing the power of application portability and DevOps for remote workers

Health insurers and providers operate in a tightly regulated environment where protecting data is paramount. In 2019, Blue Cross Blue Shield of North Carolina (BCBS NC) set out to transform their data center in order to improve speeds in healthcare application development.

The timing on the project turned out to be fortuitous. The project kicked off and was completed prior to the COVID-19 outbreak. The true test came when quarantines meant sending office workers home. BCBS NC was able to support a workforce of over 7,000 employees seamlessly, with no business interruption for employees or customers.

Join this webinar to learn how Red Hat and NetApp helped BCBS NC transform from an on-premise organization with multiple data centers, to leveraging public cloud speed to achieve their digital transformation and become a true development operation.

Petar Bojovic joined BCBS NC in 2017 as the Director of Technology Infrastructure. He is responsible for leading teams that design and plan automation, data center, and cloud infrastructure technology.

Matt Watts is the Chief Technology Evangelist (CTE) for NetApp’s Worldwide Enterprise & Commercial Field Organisation. He provides guidance on strategy & technology to customers and partners.

David Friedlander joined Red Hat in January 2020 and is Director of Product Marketing for Red Hat OpenShift. Prior to Red Hat, David worked at Docker, VMware, Microsoft, and Forrester Research.

  • Have laptop, will travel: GPU-intensive applications anywhere with RVIZ Jun 29 2021 4:00 pm UTC 21 mins
Mike Walsh, PCPC Direct - Sales Executive & RVIZ Champion and David Montana, Global Director of Strategic Accounts @ Red Hat
The energy sector, among others, has been hit hard over the last few years by natural disasters like hurricanes and of course, the COVID-19 pandemic. Having a truly mobile workforce becomes an imperative.

In energy exploration, teams of scientists who normally use powerful workstations containing GPUs to interpret 3D subsurface models using applications like Schlumberger Petrel had to wait for floodwaters to recede after Hurricane Harvey before they could access their powerful GPU workstations. Productivity took an enormous hit costing millions of dollars.

As a result, contingency plans were put in place. One plan was to have 3D interpretation workers already working remotely before the next disaster struck. RVIZ evolves this contingency plan into a complete paradigm change: a truly remote work model.

Join this Red Hat-sponsored webinar to see how PCPC Direct, Red Hat, NVIDIA, Mechdyne, Leostream and Lenovo created an offering called RVIZ.

RVIZ serves up high-end 3D graphics-intensive applications in a truly remote manner. A user with a laptop and a standard Internet connection can run big 3D models without click wait, stutter or pixelization from home or elsewhere.

Red Hat is pleased to host Mike Walsh from PCPC for a talk on RVIZ. He will discuss a great case study and see how one company fully deployed RVIZ after Hurricane Harvey and was ready when COVID-19 arrived.

Mike Walsh joined PCPC Direct in 2007 as a Sales Executive responsible for developing complex IT infrastructure solutions with many key technology partners involved.

Dave Montana has been with Red Hat since 2016 and is the Global Director of Strategic Accounts looking after the Energy and Automotive industries. Building on experience gained at Oil Operators and Energy service companies, he helps Red Hat work with partners to deliver world-leading solutions to the marketplace.
