Emerging Claims and Trends in COVID-19 Litigation

Presented by

Jennifer Roberts, Adam Levitt

About this talk

As individuals, companies, and government bodies are quickly responding to the coronavirus pandemic, the legal profession is anticipating a spate of litigation on how the crisis has been handled and its impact on society. With nearly 800 claims filed in less than 2 months, COVID-19 has not only changed how lawyers work but the substantive causes of action they pursue for their clients. DiCello Levitt Gutzler was among those first firms, who filed a lawsuit on behalf of the student body against the Arizona Board of Regents about refunding unused tuition during the campus shutdown this spring. The firm has also filed lawsuits against large insurance companies for allegedly refusing to honor their contractual obligations to policyholders for losses suffered due to COVID-19 related causes. Join Adam Levitt, the firm’s co-founding partner, and Jennifer Roberts, Product Marketing Manager at Everlaw, as they explore how claims related to the COVID-19 pandemic are impacting the practice of law from practice areas as diverse as personal injury, education and business continuity, to banking, insurance, and even securities law.
