Standardization of quality care

This solution helps clinicians to make faster, safe decisions by providing an extra level of expert guidance amidst uncertainty or complex cases.

We developed UpToDate Advanced to address clinician knowledge gaps, which we identified by analysing search data from UpToDate-used in over half of NHS acute Trusts.

Evidence-based decision trees guide users through critical decision points in each topic pathway. These features follow clinician logic and seek to help clinicians consider all factors before recording decisions in the EPR. Guides to abnormal test results, for example, provide clinicians actionable recommendations when the next steps are unclear after diagnostic testing.

About the speakers

Dr. K. Nadeem Ahmed is the Chief Medical Information Officer (CMIO) for The Aga Khan University (AKU) and its global network of hospitals. He leads the clinical teams involved in the planning, implementation, and optimization of all clinical technology systems that support the delivery of high-quality patient care, medical education, research, and to support AKU’s clinical strategic plans. 

Dr Jacob M. Poo is a qualified medical doctor and Corporate Account Executive and Healthcare Advisor at MEDITECH SA where he focuses on assisting public sector healthcare providers to maximise the benefit from their HCIS investments through learning and implementing international best practice.

Michael Miller – is International MediSpan Alliance Manager for Wolters Kluwer Health Clinical Effectiveness. With a background in healthcare technology platform development, Michael is responsible for working with healthcare providers around the world to design and implement drug screening solutions that reduce error and boost patient safety.

This update serves as an annual “check-up” on how well the Medicare program is working to improve quality of care for the millions of enrollees in the program. During this webinar, the speakers will review the medication-related quality measures in the Star Ratings, specific performance trends, and measures that may become Display measures or new Star Rating measures for future calendar years. Additionally, participants will hear about updates to Pharmacy Quality Alliance (PQA)-endorsed measures included in Part D quality programs and highlights on new measure concepts in PQA’s development pipeline.

Bio: Lynn Pezzullo, RPh, is Senior Director of Quality Innovation for the Pharmacy Quality Alliance (PQA). In this role, she is responsible for identifying and prioritizing new measure concepts and overseeing the subsequent successful development, testing, and endorsement of new PQA measures. She also is the staff liaison for PQA’s work focused in the area of pharmacy performance measures.

Medicare 2020 Star Ratings: Performance Trends and Medication Measures

To forge effective partnerships between payers and pharmacies, you need to understand the unique languages, goals and interests of patients, pharmacies and payers. Shedding light on how these diverse stakeholders view pharmacist-provided services and value-based performance programs, Pharmacy Quality Solutions (PQS) has published its inaugural Industry Trend Report in Pharmacy Quality.  The session will cover what challenges and opportunities payers face when trying to improve quality measure performance scores, what pharmacies are investing in for the future to support value-based programs with payers, and how consumers view the role of pharmacists now compared to the future.
