Medicare 2020 Star Ratings: Performance Trends and Medication Measures

Webinar Preview: Every October, the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) publishes an update to the Star Ratings for Medicare Part C & D plans. This update serves as an annual “check-up” on how well the Medicare program is working to improve quality of care for the millions of enrollees in the program. During this webinar, the speakers will review the medication-related quality measures in the Star Ratings, specific performance trends, and measures that may become Display measures or new Star Rating measures for future calendar years. Additionally, participants will hear about updates to Pharmacy Quality Alliance (PQA)-endorsed measures included in Part D quality programs and highlights on new measure concepts in PQA’s development pipeline. Bio: Todd Sega, PharmD, is the Senior Vice President of Development and Strategy for Pharmacy Quality Solutions (PQS). In this role, he is responsible for managing new developments in its existing products and evaluating new strategic product areas where PQS can continue advancing its mission to manage performance information between payers and providers so patients can receive the highest quality of care. Bio: Lynn Pezzullo, RPh, is Senior Director of Quality Innovation for the Pharmacy Quality Alliance (PQA). In this role, she is responsible for identifying and prioritizing new measure concepts and overseeing the subsequent successful development, testing, and endorsement of new PQA measures. She also is the staff liaison for PQA’s work focused in the area of pharmacy performance measures.
