In anticipation of the first responsible sourcing deadline on 30 June 2022, the LME is hosting a workshop to answer remaining questions from producers, auditors, and standards. We will cover our most frequently asked questions on filling out the Red Flag Assessment for Track C, how the audits are intended to work for Track B, and the status of Track A standards. LME and Argus: Spotlight on CFR Taiwan steel scrap – the supply side

LMEpassport is the new electronic certificates of analysis (CoA) and digital credentials register from the London Metal Exchange. 

A key component of the LME’s sustainability strategy, LMEpassport is designed to provide participants with two key services:

•  a digital store for electronic CoAs of metal physically delivered into and out of the LME ecosystem, replacing the current paper-based model
•  a facility for recording information related to metals’ sustainability

LME and Fastmarkets: Spotlight on European Aluminium Premiums

In the first of our webinars putting our new products in the spotlight, we will be joined by Argus and Metabolic to discuss the used beverage can market. UBC prices have become increasingly volatile and have deviated substantially from price development of traditional indexing methods on primary aluminium. 
This summer, the LME will launch its LME Aluminium UBC Scrap US (Argus) contract to provide a risk management tool for the North American used beverage can (UBC) recycling industry. UBCs are infinitely recyclable and turning them into new cans saves energy and resources. This contract forms part of our drive to support the circular economy and greater sustainability in the metals market.

This webinar provides an overview of the margin methodology proposals and what impact a change to this methodology may have on the LME market. We will be looking both at the key potential benefits of switching from our current contingent variation margin (CVM) methodology to a realised variation margin (RVM) methodology for base metal contracts – such as greater standardisation and reduced regulatory costs – as well as the main drawbacks – such as the possible impact on the provision of client credit.
