In anticipation of the first responsible sourcing deadline on 30 June 2022, the LME is hosting a workshop to answer remaining questions from producers, auditors, and standards. We will cover our most frequently asked questions on filling out the Red Flag Assessment for Track C, how the audits are intended to work for Track B, and the status of Track A standards. LME Responsible Sourcing Q&A

In the first of our webinars putting our new products in the spotlight, we will be joined by Argus and Metabolic to discuss the used beverage can market. UBC prices have become increasingly volatile and have deviated substantially from price development of traditional indexing methods on primary aluminium. 
This summer, the LME will launch its LME Aluminium UBC Scrap US (Argus) contract to provide a risk management tool for the North American used beverage can (UBC) recycling industry. UBCs are infinitely recyclable and turning them into new cans saves energy and resources. This contract forms part of our drive to support the circular economy and greater sustainability in the metals market.

Chris Bayliss is the Deputy Secretary General of the International Aluminium Institute. He has 18 years’ industry experience working on sustainability and climate related issues. Currently, Chris is taking forward the industry’s greenhouse gas pathways and health portfolios.

Sara has a background with a master in material science and engineering and a master in management studies.
She is chairing the Environmental team and the ESG program at Boliden Smelters. They aim to create a low carbon and responsible value chain. Where among other things - circularity and resource efficiency are key success factors.

This webinar is part of the LME Sustainability series, where we focus on some of the key themes arising from our recent discussion paper. LME Sustainability – Circular Economy

LMEpassport is the new electronic certificates of analysis (CoA) and digital credentials register from the London Metal Exchange. 

A key component of the LME’s sustainability strategy, LMEpassport is designed to provide participants with two key services:

•  a digital store for electronic CoAs of metal physically delivered into and out of the LME ecosystem, replacing the current paper-based model
•  a facility for recording information related to metals’ sustainability

To coincide with its 31 August 2021 launch, we will be running a series of training webinars designed to walk potential users of LMEpassport through its key features – administration, record creation and sustainability.
