  • The Abyss of Tape Data Storage Sep 9 2021 4:00 pm UTC 60 mins
Patrick Vaughan, President/CMO Gen3i Migration, Shawn Lieu and Darryl Richardson, Aparavi
Today more than 345,000 ExaBytes of data currently reside in tape storage systems. Tapes have continued to be an issue with legacy storage of regulated data. Data that simply cannot be deleted but does not need to be stored on primary or secondary storage. With the cost of disk storage and cloud storage becoming the new targets for major backup vendors, Tape usage has been in a downward spiral for 10 years. But tapes still contain valuable information. How do you get the information off of tape, and into a storage repository that allows you to search and parse valuable assets from the junk data?

Join Patrick Vaughan of Gen3i Migration Corp, Darryl Richardson, Chief Platform Evangelist of Aparavi, and Shawn Lieu, Technical Director at Aparavi as they discuss an easy and cost-effective solution for the tape challenge, allowing full management of this data, so you can understand what the data is, then act on the data to protect it per regulation.

  • Smarter Data Decisions with Data Intelligence Aug 4 2021 5:00 pm UTC 35 mins
Rod Christensen, CTO of Aparavi, Mike Matchett, Small World Big Data
An original Truth in IT Webinar
You're already making a lot of decisions about your data -- whether or not to keep it, where to store it, how to protect it, who gets access to it. But do you really have the information you need to make those decisions? Do you truly know where all your data lives and what data you have? Here’s where data intelligence and automation come in to locate and identify all of your data.

In this session, Rod Christensen, CTO of Aparavi, together with Mike Matchett from Small World Big Data, will describe Aparavi’s journey to prove to organizations that data intelligence delivers a fast, smart, easy way to find data. And, how they can make better decisions about their data, saving money, saving time, and reducing risk.
  • The Future of Data Storage Optimization: Intelligent Data Migration to the Cloud Recorded: Jun 24 2021 58 mins
David Clark, Managing Partner of Allegiant Strategies Group, Darryl Richardson, Chief Platform Evangelist, Aparavi
Many organizations now have a “Cloud Smart or Cloud First” mandate or methodology to help reduce the costs of on-premises storage. Moving data to the cloud has always been a challenge, moving Terabytes or Petabytes to the cloud is not only tedious for any organization, but very costly. The data moving to the cloud also holds immense risk. Having only the valuable, regulated, or critical data separated from the redundant, obsolete, and trivial (ROT) data can create immediate cost savings, reduce risk, and significantly reduce the amount of data moving to the cloud. This ROT data can consume as much as 60% of the average enterprise storage hardware. Aparavi finds and identifies your data so you can eliminate ROT data and move the critical data to the cloud.

Join Darryl Richardson, Chief Platform Evangelist at Aparavi, and David Clark, Founder and Managing Partner of Allegiant Strategies Group and former Deputy Chief of Staff to Florida Governor Ron DeSantis for an important discussion about how state government organizations and other enterprises can accelerate data migration to the cloud, and:
    • Find your data with intelligent automation
    • Optimize storage by eliminating ROT data
    • Identifying and eliminating data silos
    • Reduce costs and risks
  • Stop Data Addiction. Mitigate Risk, Cost, and Pain Before it’s too Late. Recorded: Jun 10 2021 59 mins
Marco Nasca, Chief Innovation Officer at Lineal Services, Michael Mills, Sales Director at Aparavi
Do you know a data hoarder? Maybe far too intimately?

No data hoarder believes they are one, but enterprise data management is out of control. According to IDG Research, data professionals have reported that data volume is growing by 63%-100% each month! This surge in data increases security, privacy, and legal risks; is a drag to efficiency; and is a drain to budgets across the organization.

When data explodes, no one wins! It’s time for a “data intervention.”

Join Marco Nasca, Chief Innovation Officer at Lineal Services, and Michael Mills, Sales Director at Aparavi, for an important discussion regarding the causes and ramifications of amassing data, as well as simple ways to:

    • Decrease storage and infrastructure costs
    • Mitigate cybersecurity exposure
    • Respond to every growing regulatory request
    • Reduce legal costs and risk associated to litigation and investigations
    • Improve productivity & efficiency
    • Make your data an asset to your organization, instead of a burden
  • Know your data. Make better storage decisions and avoid costly mistakes. Recorded: May 28 2021 43 mins
Shawn Lieu, Technical Director at Aparavi, Peter Crosby, Product Marketing at Aparavi, Drew Soukup, Program Associate at VMUG
    An original VMUG webcast.

Before you make storage decisions, you should be asking questions about your data. Like how much of this data even needs to be here? How much is redundant, obsolete, or trivial — you know, trash? Is there personal private data in those files that is going to get the compliance people asking questions? Aparavi can help you answer all those questions to save you time, save on your storage budget, and avoid compliance complications.

In this presentation we will show you how to discover, find, identify and classify unstructured data within your vSphere environment. We’ll show you how Aparavi can deploy on VMs within each cluster and scale to multiple clusters. We’ll also give a live demo where you’ll see how easy it is to gain general information about your files and data, and how to find very specific files based on file metadata, or file contents, or even obscure compliance requirements. (Yes, we can find all of your files that include Hungarian-specific GDPR data.)
  • Seeing the Forest through the Trees: Mapping and Securing Critical Data Recorded: May 20 2021 53 mins
Rod Christensen, CTO at Aparavi, Kelly Hammons, CEO at Secutor
If you don't know where your data is stored, how can you protect it from cybersecurity threats and vulnerabilities? The simple answer is – you can't!

Data mapping and vulnerability mapping must go hand-in-hand to ensure that your Company's data is safe from bad actors or accidental breach. That's why Aparavi, The Data Intelligence & Automation Platform and Secutor, the experts in Cybersecurity Threat and Vulnerability Management, have teamed up. Secutor, powered by Aparavi, helps find your company's mission critical and sensitive data, moves that data to a more secure location, and fixes any vulnerabilities that could give a bad actor access to the data.

Rod Christensen, CTO of Aparavi, and Kelly Hammons, CEO of Secutor, team up on this webinar to discuss common network security scenarios to demonstrate,

    • The benefits of data mapping and vulnerability mapping
    • How a two-pronged approach can mitigate the impact of network breaches and reduce data leakage

Dark data and ROT (redundant, obsolete, trivial) data are prolific in many organizations. The task to identify and manage this data is daunting and could potentially take weeks to accomplish. The problem is that ROT and Dark data compounds exponentially over time as your overall data footprint grows, and continues to occupy large chunks of your overall storage spend. In this webinar, learn how to take control of your data, defining what Dark and ROT data means to your organization. Dramatically reduce the time needed to identify unwanted, unneeded or unused data and take back control or your data!
  • Controlling Data Chaos in State & Local Government Recorded: Apr 9 2021 60 mins
James Taylor - Florida Tech Council, David Clark - Allegiant Strategies Group, Darryl Richardson - Aparavi
Data breaches against State & Local Governments have increased by 65%, according to CNN. Bad actors have a tendency to view these organizations as “low-hanging fruit” when it comes to accessing personal and sensitive data. That's because governments have Petabytes of unstructured legacy data, which only keeps growing, and no comprehensive system in place to search or manage that data. Today there are solutions that can automate the lifecycle of unstructured data and simplify the process of data governance, but there's no time to waste, as the likelihood and implications of a data breach continue to grow exponentially, and states adopt new data privacy laws and hold organizations to higher standards of cybersecurity enforcement.

Join Darryl Richardson, Chief Platform Evangelist at Aparavi, James Taylor, CEO of the Florida Technology Council, and David Clark, Founder and Managing Partner of Allegiant Strategies Group, as they discuss how state and local city governments can:

    - Resolve the challenges of unstructured data management
    - Reduce the risk of data breach and
    - Protect personal and sensitive data with intelligence and automation

  • CCPA 2.0: What You Need to Know About the New CPRA & Where to Start Recorded: Dec 10 2020 51 mins
Darryl Richardson, Chief Product Evangelist & Beth Winters, Solutions Marketing Manager at Aparavi
The California Consumer Protection Act (CCPA) that was enacted in 2018 and went into effect earlier this year. As many noted, the CCPA was far from perfect and was criticized as overly broad or ambiguous. Some of those critics proposed a ballot initiative to increase the scope of the CCPA. On November 3rd, 2020, California citizens voted "yes" on Proposition 24, also known as the California Privacy Rights Act (CPRA) or CCPA 2.0, expanding and strengthening the CCPA. The new requirements under the CPRA will become effective at the start of 2021, but enforcement will not start until January 1, 2023.

To proactively anticipate the requirements of the new legislation, you should know what those changes mean for your business and how Aparavi can help you mitigate the headaches that come with increasing data privacy legislation.

    This webinar will address:
    1. How this new regulation differs from the original CCPA
    2. What this new law may mean for your organization, and
    3. How Aparavi can help you comply with the CCPA and CPRA
  • Managing Data Transfers After the EU-U.S. Privacy Shield Invalidation Recorded: Nov 27 2020 64 mins
Debbie Reynolds, Founder, CEO & Chief Data Privacy Officer, Debbie Reynolds Consulting LLC
Join us for a pre-recorded web conference where we discuss the EU-U.S. Privacy Shield Framework, and the impact of its invalidation on business in the U.S. and worldwide, specifically its impact on Standard Contract Clauses (SCCs), and what companies can do now to navigate this new world of data transfers.

The invalidation of the EU-U.S. Privacy Shield Framework created a ripple effect throughout the world related the movement of data from the European Union to the United States. Because of the “Schrems II” decision of the Court of Justice of the European Union in July of 2020, more than 5,300 U.S. companies that used the EU-U.S. Privacy Shield Framework as the legal basis for trans-Atlantic data transfers have scrambled to find alternate legal means to continue these data transfers or other avenues of doing business with EU data. Besides the invalidation of this framework, the CJEU also pressed companies to strengthen their agreements, including standard contractual clauses to consider the surveillance laws in the country of data processing, and the ability of data processors to protect data.
  • The True ROI of Automated Data Privacy Compliance Recorded: Nov 5 2020 51 mins
    Aparavi Data Intelligence & Automation
Data privacy regulations have become even more onerous since the GDPR was enacted in 2018, with new obligations in multiple jurisdictions (like the LGPD in Brazil) and proposed changes to the CCPA on the ballot for November. In addition, budgets and headcount are still strained as a result of the pandemic. Furthermore, the costs of a data breach to a company's bottom line and reputation could be insurmountable.

But data privacy compliance does not have to break the bank. In reality, the use of automation tools can actually reduce costs and increase efficiency.

This roundtable discussion will cover the costs of breach and of non-compliance and the ways automation and data intelligence can increase data insights while decreasing risks and costs.
