About this talk

Community open source distributions are tempting because they are without cost and easily accessible, but there are a number of potential downsides that can introduce risk and long-term expenses. For instance, updates and releases for CentOS Linux® 7 will be ending on June 30, 2024. While CentOS and the CentOS community provide tremendous value, system administrators have long been frustrated with delayed fixes, the limited ecosystem of vendors and third-party applications, and its inability to solve problems. In this webinar, we’ll cover use cases highlighting how community open source users who switched to Red Hat Enterprise Linux: -Lowered and streamlined their cost of operations. -Accelerated development cycles with built-in tools and capabilities. -Maximized uptime and avoided emergencies due to security issues. -Improved security with integrated tools and dedicated resources. -Created or migrated to the platform of their future. Our speakers: Steven Ellis - a Principal Portfolio Architect in the Red Hat APAC Office of Technology. With over 30 years in the technology industry Steven has transitioned from development through infrastructure and operations, with a bit of devops on the side, into architecture roles. Daniel J. Pacek - Competitive Intelligence Analyst, Red Hat Enterprise Linux, Red Hat Dan Pacek is a Competitive Intelligence and Market Analyst at Red Hat. Dan performs ongoing, real-time research and analysis of customer requirements and vendor offerings in the enterprise server and software markets. Shashank Dixit - the Asia Pacific Geography Business Owner for the Red Hat Enterprise Linux Business Unit, responsible for delivering product and business unit strategies for the Red Hat Enterprise Linux portfolio to the region.
