However, over the past few years this status has been challenged as a result of well-documented treaty and domestic law changes in India. The Order by the Government of India in April 2020 to classify Mauritius as Category I for foreign portfolio investments (FPI) has given the jurisdiction a major boost, helping to restore trust and confidence. A world in lockdown: the impact on corporate debt restructuring and trustees

The regulatory landscape for UK funds is beginning to shift. In its Spring 2020 Budget, the government stated that it will "undertake a review of the UK’s funds regime during 2020. This will cover direct and indirect tax, as well as relevant areas of regulation, with a view to considering the case for policy changes".
