However, over the past few years this status has been challenged as a result of well-documented treaty and domestic law changes in India. The Order by the Government of India in April 2020 to classify Mauritius as Category I for foreign portfolio investments (FPI) has given the jurisdiction a major boost, helping to restore trust and confidence.
