The commercial insurance industry has long recognised that submissions, especially those with complex Schedules of Values (SOVs), are a major point of friction. Underwriters spend hours rekeying unstructured data into systems not designed to handle messy spreadsheets and ugly PDFs.
Changing the workflow, not just the tool, has been the key to success at MSIG. Their underwriting process previously relied on approximations until binding. By digitising Vehicle schedules and integrating structured data early in the workflow, MSIG can now issue accurate quotes immediately at a vehicle level. The program increases quote accuracy, reduces time to quote, enables broker service of their client and eliminates rekeying and validation.
By starting with a pain point owned internally - rekeying - and by choosing a messy, high-friction class (agricultural fleet), the team built internal buy-in before moving outward. What began as a targeted pilot in agricultural fleet underwriting has now paved the way for a broader digital roadmap.
This webinar will explore:
- Why the submission and SOV remain a central pain point in commercial insurance
- What MSIG changed in its submission workflow and why agricultural fleet was the right place to pilot
- How structuring data early improves pricing accuracy, quote turnaround time, and broker relationships
- How this approach (could) scale across other lines, and what comes next in MSIG’s digital roadmap
- What impact has improved efficiency had on other stakeholders - especially brokers?
