The Intel powered, Dell PowerEdge XR12 server is part of the growing Dell server portfolio designed to operate in extreme and rugged environments at the Edge.  This server configuration has been tested and validated to be fully compliant with the global power industry IEC 61850-3 substation operating standard. ABB’s SSC600 virtualized protection and control software enables the centralization of multiple substation workloads and functions onto a single virtualized substation platform. This improvement in responsiveness and functionality will accelerate the transition to renewable energy sources and strengthen the substation cyber security profile.
