The Covid-19 pandemic has shaken financial institutions’ working practices to the core. Trading volumes have exploded, with some venues recording more than 10X the usual volume of transactions.
This webinar looks at the current infrastructure situations facing financial firms as they deal with extended lockdowns across multiple centres. It identifies functional areas posing particular challenges and discusses how a mix of cloud, third-party data centre and interconnection can be co-opted to ensure maximum performance from home-working staff.
European industrial companies are applying IoT in the context of digitization. Understanding the opportunities this technology offers beyond process optimization and cost savings is crucial for organizations seeking to maximize the value from the IoT data they collect, and to generate innovative business models as a result.

The advent of 5G promises an acceleration in the process of digital transformation by providing a pervasive, high-performance connectivity fabric. For the first time, 5G offers enterprise networking that combines the performance and reliability of wireline with the flexibility and scalability of wireless. Everything can become mobile, and everything can become part of the enterprise's diverse, expanding ecosystems.
This webinar, co-hosted by IDC and Equinix, provides an overview of 5G's capabilities, and of the ways in which they can be harnessed to drive operational transformation. You will learn:
• What new capabilities 5G brings to networks, and how those capabilities make 5G the first enterprise-grade mobile infrastructure
• How enterprises are already using 5G to build competitive differentiation, in verticals ranging from manufacturing, through healthcare to the public sector
• How advanced 5G capabilities will underpin the transformation of enterprises into hubs at the centre of digital ecosystems
• What you can do now to get ready for the 5G revolution

The past few years has witnessed a rapid growth of the Internet of Things solutions. Edge computing and AI have been integrated to IoT architectures, enabling transformation in ICT and the digital transformation within industry. With the roll-out of 5G and other technology movements globally in the following years, IoT is expected to become strong in the operation of enterprises, making this the decade for them to evaluate the outcome of adopting wholescale and edge-based IoT in their businesses.
As the IoT market matures and companies seek to derive value from it, new considerations and best practices are emerging. IoT relies on a highly distributed network capturing data. This data needs to be analyzed in real time as it can rapidly lose value over time. This leaves enterprises facing the same question: How can I process data while the intrinsic value is still high?
The laws of physics and latency dictate that, given the complex processing and speedy responses required by IoT, analysis is best done in close proximity to devices. This talk will cover how enterprises - by building out an IoT environment which includes edge architecture - can factor in filtering, processing and analytics closer to both the input devices and end users. It will also address best practices that allow connected device makers to meet, collaborate and innovate with partner ecosystems via direct and secure interconnection making it easier than ever before to scale operations, optimize supply chains and deliver on the promises of IoT.

Through this presentation Equinix will discuss how they are helping the Open Banking community architect for scale in a hybrid/multi-cloud world. Scale architecture needs to consider these 5 key elements:
•Managing costs
•Introducing flexibility to adapt to changes in customer demand
•Application performance
•Application security
•Geographic resilience
Equinix will demonstrate how the Open Banking community they are working with use ‘Private Connectivity’ to reduce reliance on costly, inflexible MPLS and also avoid Public Internet to increase security and reduce latency.
