Modern robotic surgery requires a complex and seamless integration of software, robots, haptics, communication infrastructure and real-time control systems. A collaborative approach is essential to overcome technical challenges including latency, integration and interoperability, data security, scalability and more. Recently, four companies with deep experience in medtech demonstrated how to leverage state-of-the-art technologies to rapidly develop a fully integrated surgical robotic system. Debuted at the SRS conference, operators manipulated a remote telesurgery robot via a haptic controller. Built in less than two months, it showcases a scalable, safety-critical framework that supports real-time coordination across diverse systems and data sources.
