Who is Professor Herman Singh?

Professor Herman Singh is the CEO of Future Advisory, an international firm specialising in digital transformation projects in corporates, and startup acceleration. Herman graduated from Wits at the age of 19 with a four-year Engineering degree and holds two postgrad qualifications. He was appointed managing director at a Barlows factory at the age of 28 and served as a managing director of Siemens’ Industry Division. He later joined Standard Bank as the director of e-commerce and online services, before being appointed director of IT planning and CEO of the bank's Innovation Hub Beyond Payments. In 2013 he joined MTN as managing executive of m-Commerce and until recently held the role of CDO.

Afgelopen jaar zijn Edwin Voermans (Sr System Engineer) en ik met verschillende IOT projecten in aanraking gekomen. Wat wij opmerkte is de extreme data groei op edge locaties, beperkte schaalbaarheid van ontwikkelde software die de edge juist intelligent moeten maken, en een wildgroei aan standaarden bij veel projecten.

We geven tijdens deze sessie toelichting op het Xi IOT platform en behandelen de vereenvoudiging van onze key take-aways met demonstraties. Hierbij richten we ons op serverless deployments onafhankelijk van devlopment talen of public cloud leverancier.
Tijdens deze sessie laten we in een korte tutorial zien hoe je met bestaande camera infrastructuur, op een veilige manier, zonder hoogwaardige developer skills waarde kan toevoegen aan de organisatie op verschillende locaties.

We streven ernaar om het IOT café onder het genot van een kopje koffie zo Nederlands mogelijk te houden.
