  • Ep. 9 - A Comparison of AEM Smart Buildings Testers Recorded: Oct 5 2021 30 mins
Steve Cowles, RCDD/NTS and Lisa Schwartz, Dir. Product Marketing at AEM
AEM’s innovative purpose-built solutions, supports all parties who have a stake in the success of the smart building network − cable contractors, systems integrators, and network managers. In this episode, we’ll take a look at what’s the same and what’s different in order to help you identify which testing solution is right for you.
  • Live Demo of Infrastructure Test for Smart Buildings-Part 2 of two part series Recorded: May 20 2021 49 mins
Steve Cowles, RCDD/NTS, Manager Technical Services, Lisa Schwartz, Dir. Product Marketing
In Part 2 of this two part series, we'll perform the testing methodologies needed to assure infrastructure readiness for smart building technologies. We'll show the various types of infrastructure testing discussed in part 1 in a live product demonstration format. We will be using the TestPro CV100 Multifunction Cable Certifier, to give the viewer a real world look at the various types of testing that should be performed, and how quick, simple, and cost effective it can be to provide assurance of infrastructure readiness.

Technologies we'll be covering in this fast pace demo are copper certification, fiber optic certification including hybrid powered fiber, power over Ethernet, SNR based multi-gigabit link speed testing, wireless network connectivity testing and wired network connectivity testing and troubleshooting. We'll also show you how to save the test results for documentation of cabling link performance.
  • Assuring Infrastructure Readiness for Smart Buildings-Part 1 of two part series Recorded: May 13 2021 47 mins
Lisa Schwartz, Dir. Product Marketing, Steve Cowles, RCDD/NTS, Technical Services
In Part 1 of this two part series, I will be discussing the importance of assuring infrastructure readiness for those deploying or managing smart building technologies. For those who design and deploy the infrastructure systems that are the foundation for building intelligence, this session will provide insight into the depth of testing that should now be performed. In this session I will discuss extended measurements defined in ANSI/TIA 1152-A that should be made as part of cable certification, as well as extended measurements of link speed, and different types of network-based power. For those responsible for managing these environments, this session will also provide insight into simple and effective link troubleshooting capabilities that span both the wired and wireless network infrastructure.

In Part 2 - "Live Demo of Infrastructure Test for Smart Buildings-Part 2 of two part series", we'll show the various types of infrastructure testing discussed in part 1 in a live product demonstration format. We will be using the TestPro CV100 Multifunction Cable Certifier, to give the viewer a real world look at the various types of testing that should be performed, and how quick, simple, and cost effective it can be to provide assurance of infrastructure readiness.
  • Bridging the divide between Qualification and Certification cable testing Recorded: Apr 16 2021 45 mins
Steve Cowles, RCDD/NTS, Manager Technical Support and Customer Care & Lisa Schwartz, Dir. Product Marketing
In this discussion, we'll discuss the different types of testing challenges IT departments face in the midst of modern network infrastructure with more and more IoT connected devices that require PoE, and assurance of category cabling including CAT6A and 10GigE. We'll also do some hands-on live product demonstration to show how testing in these network environments can be done quickly and easily, with a cost effective test solution that spans both the wired and wireless network.

IT departments often find a need to ensure the cabling infrastructure meets a certain test standard. This is needed to ensure support for a given application, or simply to support moves/adds/changes. Historically, this requires the purchase of two or even three different types of testers, that span wired, wireless, and certification capabilities, which becomes cost prohibitive.

Introducing the Network Service Assistant (NSA), with Certi-Lite, a multifunction connectivity test solution that represents a new category in field test with Qualification+ grade testing function. The NSA is offered at a fraction of the cost for what you would typically need to spend in multiple testers to get this much test function. And, because the NSA is modular, adding more test function as needs change, and AEM continues to add capabilities, is as easy as hot swapping a test adapter.
  • Qualification+ Wired and Wireless Network Connectivity Troubleshooting Recorded: Jan 30 2021 12 mins
    Lisa Schwartz
In this 13 min. video, we would like to introduce you to the Network Service Assistant, a Hybrid field test instrument that provides standards based layer 1 cable testing combined with wired and wireless network connectivity testing, PoE load testing and Multi-gigabit link speed testing up to 10GigE.
  • Power Delivery over Single-Pair Ethernet Recorded: Dec 7 2020 65 mins
Harshang Pandya, AEM, Mark Dearing, Leviton, and Todd Harpel, Leviton
BICSI CEC Credit Available - Single pair Ethernet is coming to a building near you. This webinar will discuss 802.3cg industrial and intelligent building targets, provide an overview of SPE use cases including industrial process control, intelligent building connections, sensors and building controls. Our speakers will then address PoE, PoDL, cable heating considerations, and SPE vs. batteries and wireless. The webinar will wrap up with a discussion on SPE testing.
