The Digital Twin Consortium’s new Technology Showcase for Emergency Communications Services presents a breakthrough in operations center technology. 

The Showcase features a state-of-the-art platform designed to allow diverse emergency response teams – which are typically spread widely across a disaster area – to interact in real-time within a structured workflow, as if they were in the same room. The platform saves lives by providing a common communications service for operations during emergency responses.

DTC Tech Showcase: Emergency Communication Services

Today’s manufacturing lines require remote verification of manufacturing components in real-time, as they are conveyed across the factory. In this use case, featured in the DTC's Technology Showcase, a digital twin of a manufacturing cell enables manipulation and quality control inspection of manufacturing cells using Virtual Reality. 

The goal of the project is to increase the flexibility of manufacturing lines to adapt them to today’s remote inspection scenarios. This prevents stopping production when an operator is remotely located.

Dr. Ander García will overview outcomes including:
A digital twin of the manufacturing cell that can be manipulated and inspected.
A realistic demonstrator that includes real-time remote operators.
 Improvements required in the post-Covid manufacturing world, notably operator location flexibility.
Tracking of energy efficiency, performance metrics, and maintainability of the manufacturing line.

Dr. García is the Lead of Connectivity and Cloud/Edge Computing Research Line at Vicomtech, where he has worked since 2003. He currently works for the Data Intelligence for Energy and Industrial Processes department, leading the Connectivity and Cloud/Edge research line. He is an associated professor at the University of the Basque Country and the University of Deusto.

the power grid enhancements needed to support EV buses, and the energy
optimization of refrigeration for the largest food distribution operation in
the United States. And all using the same reusable patterns. Destined to
expand beyond the borders of the United States, the program epitomizes

Digital twins are an essential part of digital transformation, which promises cleaner, smarter, and more efficient technology solutions across industries.

However, in order to satisfy all stakeholders -- technical, business, and regulatory -- digital twins need to operate securely and safely with an understandable and interoperable model for maintaining security and safety assurance.

The Digital Twin Consortium Capabilities and Technology Working Group recently published a white paper to address these concerns: Assuring Trustworthiness in Dynamic Systems Using Digital Twins and Trust Vectors. This webinar brings together authors of that paper who will:

- Introduce the digital twin concept with communication and trust vectors as the foundation for system-of-system trustworthiness.
- Apply the principles of the whitepaper to smart manufacturing – with a focus on adding business value through reliable and resilient operations including:
- the role of the trust vector and the corresponding maturity model for each dimension.
- digital twin and symbolic AI (agents) to overcome fundamental problems of complex systems – like incompleteness and ambiguity

Digital Twins are used for different use cases and applications across the lifecycle of assets, processes, and systems. Digital Twin lifecycle can mean different things to different stakeholders.
