It will also outline the benefit of a thorough forensic investigation whenever a PV system fire occurs, in order to determine the origin and cause and to assist in the consideration of liability.

The Dark Side of Solar - From Sunlight to Smoke

The CILA Property & Anti-Fraud Specialist Interest Groups will explore an array of topics on the subject of handling claims in a recession including the real day to day impact on property claims, the unique challenges confronted by adjusters and actionable solutions.

The chemical industry is the fifth-largest manufacturing sector in the world, directly contributing around USD 1 trillion to global GDP annually and employing 15 million people. Petrochemical production is expected to account for more than a third of growth in oil demand by 2030, according to IEA. Many oil producers are ramping up production of petrochemicals to extract more value from their energy resources and create a downstream industry. Petrochemicals are the ingredients used to make products that other industries process to manufacture everything from vehicles to flat-screen TVs.

In the past, large petrochemical facilities have had a history of incurring substantial fire and explosion losses. Accidents in these volatile and hazardous industries have been known to cause injury to workers and significant financial losses. Investigating these losses is typically a lengthy and complex process that demands understanding of not only the volatile chemicals present at the scene, but also—and perhaps more importantly—an understanding of the processes in place.

Mamoon Alyah, Managing Director of CEERISK Consulting has investigated several incidents in petrochemical plants around the world and will be sharing his experience dealing with the issues encountered when investigating losses at petrochemical plants. He will look at well-known incidents from around the world and share lessons extracted from these accidents, highlighting the challenges faced by insurers and loss adjusters.  He will discuss the gaps created by incomplete risk surveys and suggest ways of bridging these gaps.

This webinar will explore the topic of Alternative Accommodation.

In essence, the subject, at its core, is relatively simple in that Insurers agree to provide an indemnity to a policy holder for the costs of Alternative Accommodation, required due to Insured Damage rendering a property uninhabitable. 

In reality however there are a myriad of variables that come into play and require consideration when handling a claim involving Alternative Accommodation.  This is compounded by the fact that a claim that requires a person to move out of their house will, by its very nature, involve a lot of emotion and trauma.

This webinar will seek, with reference to real life examples, to:

*provide a brief overview of the typical cover afforded under an insurance policy providing cover for Alternative Accommodation
*explore some of the challenges faced by an adjuster dealing with a claim involving alternative accommodation

The final webinar will focus on the property itself and how the condition and restoration reports are compiled. We will also discuss in detail how projects are managed and executed. A number of restoration case studies will be reviewed.

Farcroft Session Three - Building recovery

Session two, will focus specifically on the contents of the property and the subsequent steps that need to be taken. Starting with the initial recovery and removal of the contents from the property, through to immediate triage steps to ensure secondary damage is minimised, prior to its storage. We will also discuss how the condition and restoration reports are compiled. A number of restoration case studies will be reviewed.

Farcroft Session Two - Contents protection

The first session will focus on the time after the first notification of loss is registered and the critical response to the instruction being received by the restoration company. From understanding the peril and nature of the event, understanding the property, contents and the insured expectations. How communication is key, from building rapport with the insured and also working very closely with the Loss Adjuster. Within this session we will share in detail how we approach such events, the importance of the survey and its role in collecting information but recognising how this visit can help reduce secondary damage.

Session to explore the insurance industry shift to “Build Back Better” on flood claims and the Flood Re proposal to provide a grant of up to £10,000 per property to improve flood resilience.
