Lessons Learnt from a Female RegTech Founder

About this talk

Female-founded FinTech’s accounted for 17% of the UK’s total FinTech venture capital (VC) investments throughout 2020. Although this figure is up 6% from 2019, it still shows a need for improvement. Outside of FinTech, just 17% of business founders are female and of pitch-decks reaching VC firms, only 5% are from all-female teams (in comparison to 75% all male). To break it down even further, for every £1 of VC investment in the UK, all-female founder teams get less than 1p! Lack of diversity in VC funding is just one of the challenges faced by female founders in the RegTech industry. Women are significantly underrepresented in entrepreneurship; it is said that up to £250 billion of new value could be added to the UK economy if women started and scaled new businesses at the same rate as UK men. Think of what that could do for the RegTech industry! So how do you succeed as a female entrepreneur in RegTech? Join us for an open and candid discussion as we chat with two successful female founders to explore what can be done to drive change! Panelists Lucy Heavens, Co-founder of RegTech Women (moderator) Sarah Sinclair, Co-founder of Change Gap and Advisory Board Member of RegTech Women Layla White, Founder of TechPassport
