About this talk

Cloud computing has been a defining technological advance of the last decade. Today, though, its primacy is being challenged by the rise of the Internet of Things and sensor-dependent technologies like autonomous transportation and computer vision. Applications like these generate vast data feeds which need to be ingested, analyzed and acted on in real time. And to achieve that, compute is migrating out to the edge. However, at the same time 5G is delivering an order of magnitude improvement in capacity, latency, reliability and availability. Could this spell a retreat from the edge? Join moderator Kirsten Billhardt from Dell Technologies as she welcomes panelists: - Martin Bäckström, Head of Technology & Portfolio, Cloud & NFVi, Ericsson - Flavio Devide, Edge & IoT Field CTO, Dell Technologies - Christian Renaud, Vice President, Research, S&P Global As we examine these rising technology trends, their challenges and likely implications for business outcomes. With expert panelists from both sides, this promises to be a highly stimulating debate.

Emerging technologies like 5G and edge computing create a massive opportunity for communication service providers (CSPs) to build new revenue streams and power innovative business models that serve new markets. Dell Technologies is partnering with CSPs around the world to make this opportunity a reality. Our vision is to transform the network through workload virtualization, software-defined infrastructure and open architectures, helping CSPs gain the flexibility and agility they need to compete and win today – and tomorrow.
