Moral Injury and Shared Trauma: Healing our Systems and Ourselves

The COVID-19 pandemic brought unparalleled challenges for healthcare in the United States. In Northeast Ohio, with many still working tirelessly to coordinate care for patients struggling with Opioid Used Disorder (OUD), all while navigating disruptions and lingering effects of the COVID-19 pandemic. These unique challenges created precarious scenarios for providers and patients, who have had to adopt new strategies to deal with the uncertainty of the pandemic.

The Northeast Ohio Hospital Opioid Consortium, a hospital system-based and physician-led collaboration housed at The Center for Health Affairs, is giving attention to this issue by hosting this virtual town hall with experts in various ends of the continuum of care model. The COVID-19 pandemic has shed light on the ever-present health disparities within our communities. That raises the question: How are our population and community healthcare leaders tackling these issues?  

 
Dr. Adam Myers, chief of population health at Cleveland Clinic and chair of Cleveland Clinic Community Care, will give an overarching view of the community care landscape, discussing the Cleveland Clinic’s initial response to the COVID-19 pandemic and how the health system is addressing the social determinants of health.
