Securing Amazon S3 in the Age of Covid 19

Join a panel of security leaders as we dive deep into recent trends that have made cloud object storage the center pin for countless enterprise applications and an emerging threat vector for malware and viruses. Since the onset of Covid 19, cyber attacks have increased in number and severity as hackers take advantage of remote work. Ransomware alone has seen a 47% increase in the severity of attacks, on top of a 100% increase from 2019 to Q1 2020.

The session will examine multiple types of successful hacker attacks on Amazon S3, including details and recreation of how an Amazon S3 bucket can be compromised with ransomware. We will move quickly into why these buckets ended up vulnerable and what types of steps security professionals can take to minimize the success of these attacks.

Historically data was stored on network drives, NAS and SAN devices, and other hardware housed in on-prem data centers. As this data has migrated out of the proprietary data centers and into the emerging public cloud (IaaS) environments, the existing tools, policies, and skills needed to secure the data must keep up with the changing world. Our panelists will share best practices on how to bolster security for Amazon S3 utilizing AWS Native Security Services and new ideas and solutions that directly mitigate malware risk on Amazon S3.

Aaron Klein, SecureCloudDB // Tim Sandage, AWS // Mike Hughes, Prism RA // Jeff Collins, Lightstream // Tyler Kennedy, Rewind
There’s something refreshing about starting a new year. What’s not so refreshing is facing new security risks. To fortify your approach and learn a few must-take steps, join us to hear how a panel of experts is approaching cloud security in 2021.

SecureCloudDB Founder Aaron Klein will moderate a candid conversation with expert security leaders Tim Sandage of AWS, Mike Hughes of Prism RA, Jeff Collins of Lightstream, and Tyler Kennedy of Rewind as they discuss:

    - Emerging cloud security trends
    - The biggest security threats facing organizations
    - Strategies to prevent or stop an attack
    - Actions that you should take today
    - Regulations to watch out for
    - Considerations for CISOs using the public cloud

This panel will offer practical advice about emerging threats and recommended counters for anyone who is responsible for navigating security in the cloud. Come with questions as live audience Q&A will wrap up the session.

  • Cloud Database Security: Responding to New Threats and Challenges Recorded: Dec 10 2020 58 mins

A significant portion of IT infrastructure has moved from proprietary data centers into public clouds. According to Gartner, 80% of enterprises will eliminate their traditional data centers by 2025. What does this mean for database security? How can organizations best protect their crown jewels — the data stored in cloud databases?

Organizations have a security strategy for on-premises databases; they need a separate one for the cloud because managing and protecting databases in the cloud requires a tailored, cloud-native approach. Network security doesn't cover it all. Nor does operating system security tooling.

This webinar examines the techniques needed to manage and secure resources in public cloud databases. Designed for CISOs, DevOp Engineers, MSPs, Auditors and others who are responsible for data security in the cloud, topics will cover:

    - Architectural elements and why “zero trust” is a must
    - Database inventory considerations
    - Best practices for assessing security and managing risk
    - Cloud requirements for activity monitoring
