About this talk

This Emissions Q&A session focusses on the timing and form of climate policy development across various jurisdictions and some of the key implications for the future shape of industry. In particular, the relationships between China’s 14th Five Year Plan and steps toward carbon neutrality and Paris agreement targets are examined. Questions around the balance between state interventionism and market-driven solutions are discussed, along with the consequences for producers outside China and the potential for more rapid development of higher-value exports from China. CRU also takes a look at expectations from the new Biden administration and its stated policy positions, and possible carbon price scenarios, trade distortions and technology investments stemming from policy decisions.
