About this talk

Insurance is a crucial part of the capital stack; nothing gets invested unless it is insured. As such, Insurance has not only an important role to play in helping other forms of capital (debt and equity) be deployed but can also powerfully influence corporates in their transition to become more sustainable. The insurance industry has a significant exposure to climate change, most obviously through more frequent or intense weather events, but also increasingly through management and profession liabilities. Regulatory headwinds made many Insurers exit Net-Zero Insurance Alliance (NZIA), and re-consider their value proposition in some regions. • So how do Insurers pursue decarbonisation goals? • What is the impact of regulation on Insurers? • How can Insurers transfer risks and which markets do they enter/exit? • What new products are being developed? • What is the need for new technologies and ESG data? These and many other questions we will explore with our excellent panel: Linda Freiner – Group Head of Sustainability – Zurich Insurance Julian Richardson – CEO – Parhelion Underwriting Justin Cheng – ESG Senior Research Analyst, Insurance, Asset Management and Real Estate – Morningstar-Sustainalytics Daniel Stander – Deputy Chair & Member of the Board of Directors – Resilient Cities Network Moderated by Dana Hanby – Managing Director – ESG Nexus
